My mam was cutting the grass in the garden when she found a newt, thankfully the newt didn't get harmed. I dont know what to do with him, the garden isn't the best place for him and he could easily be killed. He's a smooth newt, I don't know if he's and adult or young newt. My grandparents live down the road where the have a pond which I was thinking of moving him to, but there's other frogs and newts that live there and I've searched the internet and found mixed opinions about relocating them. There's no water near my gardens for him to go in. He's in a tub of water right now and I put a rock in which he's sitting on until I can set him free. Any advice?
Edit: done some more searching, and apparently smooth newts mostly live on land, and are commonly found in gardens. Do you think it's best if I move him to my other garden? That one's safer that the one he was found in.
