Yeah, if there were some people really interested in this it could happen. I hope it does.

That wouldn't be a convention then. :)

Maybe we could start a hamster association or club in most states?

It would be a lot of work, and to be available to all USA members, you would need at least 100 people to run it ( 2 per state)
+Canada, UK, Singapore, and other places
Just renting a room could cost 1,000+ for each place, probably more
You would also need staff
My parent think HH is a silly website, They would never spend the money on something "silly" but it would be cool

My parents think the HH forum is a great idea. I'm actually starting a hamster sitter service :)

Sounds very interesting. :) Do you have more information about the convention? Is it part of a larger expo or is it a hamster-only event? What do you guys do there?

I think it's a great idea, and I'd love to meet some of the people on here (in person, that is) buy the majority of members here are minors (>18 years old) so at the moment, it's unlikely it's going to happen.

Not to mention, there are many members here who live outside of the US in countries such as Canada, Ireland, Singapore, the UK and even some Australian members. My cousin lives in California, but I highly doubt my parents would let me travel from Ireland to theUS alone to meet up with people I met on the Internet (even though you all seem like lovely people, my parents are almost too "over-protective" in regards to things like that). Plus, I'm terrified of flying too lol so that would be a fail (for me anyway haha)

It would be fun, but expensive.. It's a nice idea though :)

I imagine you could start a Facebook group or something, and try to group together some money, maybe talk to your local pet stores. I think that a hamster-only Convention would not be feasible, but perhaps something like a Small Animal/Rodent Expo that has hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, chinchillas, ect.?

It would take a lot of organizing and... programming? the word eludes me, maybe rallying...  :scratchchin: Basically where you go around and ask for donations, ect, and just get a big following for your convention. I think it would need to be a localized thing, though.

Haha, I agree with you completely. My parents would NEVER let me meet with people on the internet - they dislike me even just visiting HH...

This idea does sound fun, but would be difficult to make come true.

I'm sure many people are interested in knowing about an existing convention, it may be more helpful to post more details here (where, when, what, etc) so perhaps they can attend if it's close to them? You mention members...what sort of group/organization is arranging the convention? I'm not aware of other hamster clubs besides CHA in the US, so I'm very excited to hear about another one. :)

Mine don't even know HH exists. They'd probably tease me considering I'm 16 and they'd see it as "childish". Their also not very supportive of my career choice, and would much rather me get a "real job". I know they (well so they think) only want what's best for me, but sometimes I think they forget that I have my own dreams for myself.. and would be bored out of my mind In a office somewhere, or in a store stacking shelves.

Anyway, it does sound like a good idea :), it's shame that it's unlikely that it's ever going to happen.
