I used to catch toads all the time as a kid and keep them for a few days. Honestly, they are better off in the wild. They eat tons! A few bugs a day are not going to cut it. Your toad will probably need at least a dozen. Another thing to think about is the fact that it's mating season. I imagine it is very uncomfortable for your little guy to not be able to do what he feels he MUST do. Please put him back where you found him. If you want a toad as a pet you can get a few different types from the pet store. My coworker actually has a pet fire bellied toad that she brings to camp to show our nature kids. There are also many different types of frogs to choose from
