Oh no no, I think you're missing my point x)

I'm saying as long as you have some sort of device that can
film at a decent quality , you don't need a camera. You don't
absolutely need such a device to be on Youtube is what I'm
trying to say (:

I'm sort of confused. ???? I use my laptop to film or take pictures, but it doesn't have good quality. I only have HD quality whenever it is available to me by YouTube.

Maybe you both can take up your conversation via pm, not to derail the thread too much? :) I think Mika is trying to say a person doesn't need a fancy camera or device to make videos. You can use whatever you have to film!

Mine have been quite successful :)

1) Research before making videos, The HH Forum is a great place to look!

2) DO NOT ASK SUB 4 SUB ~ It IS ANNOYING!! :D :D

3) Upload Regulary, People will unsubscribe if you do not upload regulary! :) 2 times a week is a good amount :)

4) Comment nice things on other Peoples videos, there is no point in Disliking Videos and Commenting mean things, If you did not enjoy the video, Just click off! There is no need to waste your time disliking and being mean ~ It is not going to get you subscribers!

5) Maybe feature your Hamsters in your Video, 99% Of People would prefer watching your Hamster rather than a still Image of your Wall! :D

6) Enjoy making Videos! No point in doing them if you do not enjoy! :)

7) Reply to Comments! People spend time commenting on your videos ~ Reply back! Be kind and Open as they have viewed your video and taken the time to comment!

Those are some things that have worked well for lots of other people! For me, I use numbers 1) 2) 3) and 7) most and that has helped make me fairly successful on YouTube!

Hope this tips helped! :P :P :D :D :D

I do not claim to be an expert or anything, but these are the things I find helpful in terms of making YouTube videos and how to provide great content.

star.gif

1. YouTube Playbook (http://www.youtube.com/yt/playbook/index.html)
It is YouTube quick guide to optimizing your channel. They give great tips and instructions to make your channel subscriber friendly.

I find some great tips/examples and a few features that I did not know YouTube had till I read it in their playbook~

2. Hamster Safety
Whichever topic you decide to film about your hamster, whether it be reviews, clips, or care videos, make sure you put your hamster's safety first. Don't try out products or ideas at the expense of your hamster's safety just because you think it will give you more subscribers.

For my videos with Marcie, I know she likes to chew. So I try to film her in areas where I know she won't get to anything that may be dangerous. I also try to do segments where I make chew toys for her that I know are safe and won't cause harm. If I feel that Marcie's safety or well being is in danger I do not film or I try to find an alternative way to film the information without putting her in harms way.

3. Engagement
Try to be engaging and interactive with your subscribers/viewers etc. Get amped up, get excited!
Truth be told, I'm still working on this. I am very shy, so it takes me a while to warm up. In my videos, I have to do a couple of takes, because the first one is always me speaking in a very soft voice which make most viewers uninterested.

So, important tip (which I try to follow myself) -- speak loud and proud! And engage with your viewers! yes.gif

4. Subs4Subs/Advertising
I DO find it frustrating when people ask to sub and when I go to their channel there are no videos, no avatar icon, and no banner. I just find it really difficult to subscribe to someone that does not remotely have a complete channel.

Personally, I do not mind subscribing, if they provide great content and their channel is updated regularly.
In terms of others, I would like people who subscribe to Marcie's channel because they like her videos NOT just for an increase in subscriber count and I would sincerely hope that this goes for others too.

5. Positive Outlook
Have a positive energy and outlook on things. There will be some who will dislike your videos or write hurtful comments. This is just what the real world is like. Not everyone will agree with the things you have to say. Be open minded and stay positive!

I have had my fair share of online bullying (on other online platforms) and there are some people who have disliked some of Marcie's videos. There are times when it gets really difficult and some comments can be very hurtful. But find support in your friends and family and stay true to who you are.

Those that post hurtful comments or bully have no face and hide behind an anonymous veil-- this is why it is so easy for them to say the things they say. I try to take a step back and keep an open mind when I come across these type of comments. Ultimately, I try to stay HAPPY and POSITIVE! veryhappy.gif

6. Quality
Posting up quality videos helps tremendously. Editing may take extra time, but it is the extra time that most subscribers value.

I try my hardest to provide good footage. I try to post a video only when I feel it is both good quality in content and editing. Plus, Marcie demands me to film only her good side... Which happens to be every side to her. (What a diva...) sweatdrop.gif

7. Have fun!
Do you enjoy making videos? Do you enjoy filming your hamster? These are important questions when having a YouTube channel.
Since you will be spending most of your time editing and filming it is good to have an enthusiastic outlook on making videos.

I personally am studying to get into animation and film. Thus, my enthusiasm for such things has no bounds. I am constantly on the prowl for new ways to film and edit. Finding new techniques and learning the ways of animation etc. reading.gif

In addition, my love for Marcie is endless, and so I try to find the best ways to care for her. I enjoy her antics and she makes me very happy. I want to share that with others and hope to show my enjoyment in my videos. valentine.gif

I hope these tips are helpful to someone. I try to follow these to the best of my ability~ Thank you for reading!

A few tips that I would like to add onto these amazing tips are:

Treat YouTube as a hobby, not a job. If you don't like making videos then that's fine. Doing YouTube videos should be a fun thing, not something you don't like doing.

Try not to make the camera too shaky! Personally, a shaky camera puts me off the video. Try and be a steady with the camera as possible.

Don't rush in videos. Take your time. If you feel liked you've messed up on a part, do it again until YOU are happy with it.

Don't copy other YouTubers! You may think that no one notices, but they actually do. Maybe watch an informative video and then take notes and put it into your own words and set it out differently. Basically try to make it as unique as possible. You'll feel more proud of yourself. :)

And last of all, don't advertise your channel on other people's channel without permission. It's actually very annoying and is considered rude. :)

Hope I helped!

A tip I feel I'd like to see some youtubers to do is be maybe be more approachable? I really like it when I can share my opinion and them to respect it and to just talk to them as if they are a friend :).

A little late but I will always click off/exit a video if the person is speaking in a monotonous voice. It just sounds so boring and appears as if they are uninterested. Adding some enthusiasm would help a lot, I think.

I just started but here's my plan so far:

Audio- I don't use audio; I'm actually looking for a way to make my video completely soundless (I don't want music) because there's some static from the lack of sound. Instead I use large, clear text.

Subscribe requests- I ask people to subscribe in the description of the video and at the end of the video. And that's it- I don't feel comfortable going around asking specific people.

I also state clearly that I welcome requests and/or comments; if I'm doing something wrong or people want something different, I want to know! Giving people correct, useful information is the most important part of this for me.

I haven't posted any actual videos yet (just one blooper I thought was cute), but that's my plan and so far I've stuck to it throughout the filming. Does this sound good to people?

I would say to film what YOU want, do lots of research, spend time on your videos - don't rush them, and most importantly, have fun! I've been on YouTube for a long time now, but I've only just now made a channel! I also think it's important not to go around asking for subs and for people to check out your videos - it only puts people off! :)

Saying that, if anyone has any links I'd love to check our your channels! :)
