We just got our 2nd Teddy and it's been 2 days and we've noticed he hasn't used the bathroom yet, OR ate.

We did notice when we bought him that he did have poop coming out his butt, we just thought he was in the process of pooping. To this day it is still there........ what do we do?

Thanks in advance.

hi there,
sounds like a case of constipation. is he hunched over now? if so it's very serious. you have to get him to a small-animals vet for hamster-safe medication if it has been 2 whole days and it can be fatal if left as it is.

meanwhile, feed your hamster some olive oil, a few drops will do. try to massage his tummy with a warm towel. soften the 'plug' of poop in his rear with warm water and olive oil. you can also feed him some plain, unflavoured yogurt.

two related topics for your reference:
- Constipated?
- Constipated Hamster

when he's okay already, feed him some timothy hay from the petstore to restore the balance in his digestive system.

If its constipated then let it lick some vegtable oil,if that doesn`t work, like she said, take it to the vet. :worried:

LIke before^^^ It sounds like constipation, Make sure his water bottle is filled to the top and test it to make sure there water coming out.

You can also refuel him with 25% pedialyte and 75 % water. ( im pretty sure, ill check with misspIXY on it)

VEgtable oil can also work too. Put 1 1/2 table spons of vegtable oil in a dish and watch the reaction of the hamster.

Plain yogurt also works too use the same mesurements as before ^ with the veg.oil.
