Posted Image Happy Holidays to everyone!Posted Image

Yes it's a little bit early, but for me Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year to celebrate, so I chose to start decorating in October *cough* November. (Hey, it's better then the one year I started in September....oh yes, you read correctly.) It goes by far too quickly, so why not enjoy it? Posted Image Also bah humbug to any scrooges out there who don't like the holiday! Hehe no, just kidding! Posted Image Posted Image

A month or so ago, I was browsing around to find some simple and inexpensive crafts to make so my room would look extra festive. I stumbled upon these wonderful ideas and thought some of you might enjoy tutorials to make these yourself. Everything was exceptionally easy and cost hardly any money at all, plus crafting is one of the best stress relievers there is! I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making this post for you. (It took over 9 hours to take photos, upload, and format everything for online. Posted Image Yodel helped though. He watched and kept an eye on everything I was doing...in between being naughty and chewing, of course! <3 ) Happy craft making!!

Craft # 1 - Felt stacked trees

Posted Image

Items needed:

6 pieces of different colored felt
scissors (plain or pinking shears)
needle & thread
hot glue gun
random trim
sequins or beads
plastic bags to stuff inside

To Start: Download and save the cone paper patterns underneath the spoiler below. IMPORTANT: Print these out on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper so it goes from edge to edge. There are 4 pattern pieces total. Use pieces 3,2,1 for the larger tree, and 2,1,0 for the smaller tree. Cut along the edge and discard the green section.

Spoiler

Step 1: Cut printed pattern pieces along edges and discard the green section. Pin each piece to the felt color of choice, and you can either cut with regular scissors, or with pinking shears (these give a pretty edge). I chose to cut slightly larger then the pattern on all the pieces.

Posted Image

Step 2: Stack and pin felt pieces together

Posted Image

Step 3: Begin sewing

Posted Image

Step 4: Continue sewing

Posted Image

Step 5: Continue more sewing....

Posted Image

Step 6: Continue even more sewing, changing your thread color as you go along.

Posted Image

Step 7: Finish the last piece and tie the thread in a knot on the INSIDE of your tree base.

Posted Image

Step 8: Stuff the inside and add trim.

Posted Image

Step 9: Prepare to decorate!

Posted Image

Step 10: Glue or sew the sequins on. Be careful and ask for an adult's help if needed.

Posted Image

Step 11: Admire your handiwork and eat a cookie! Posted Image

Craft # 2 - Punchi Pom-Pom garland

Posted Image

Items needed:

multicolored pom-poms
thin ribbon
hot glue gun

I came up with this idea (though it probably already exists online) because I wanted to decorate Yodel's DIY cage, but didn't want to use Christmas lights to scratch the front plexiglass. Pom-poms give the same bright, colorful effect but are soft and there is no need to plug it in!

Step 1: Arrange your pom-poms.

Posted Image

Step 2: Take one at a time and glue on ribbon, being extremely careful not to burn yourself! You can have
them as close or as far apart as you wish.

Posted Image

Step 3: Enjoy the punchi "string lights" and drink some hot cocoa to wash down the cookie! Posted Image

Craft # 3 - Tiny Tinsel Tree

Posted Image

Items needed:

sparkley pipe cleaners
miniature ornaments of any kind
empty spool of thread

(optional)
felt for tree skirt
gift wrap and tiny boxes for packages

Complete tutorial with pattern HERE:

Craft # 4 - Punchi pipe cleaner snowflakes

Posted Image

Items needed:

pipe cleaners
beads
invisible thread & push pins (if you wish to hang)

These can be hung from the ceiling, doorknobs, windows, furniture, or any other place you can think of!

Step 1: Twist the pipe cleaners together starting with a cross shape, then another cross inside of that, then another cross....etc.

Posted Image

Step 2: Add beads

Posted Image

Step 3: Repeat steps for as many snowflakes as you wish to make

Posted Image

Step 4: If desired, bend into 3-D flakes instead of flat ones.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Well, that is all for now. Posted Image If anyone decides to make these crafts or has other ideas, feel free to post them in the thread. I would love to see what you come up with. Posted Image

*TWITCH*

Oh geez, I'm still burned out from Halloween! Don't think I can get any creative juices flowing for Thanksgiving either. :sweatdrop: Also, I might add, hot glue guns are my nemesis and the hubby has banned me from using them ever again. Don't ask ...

So I'll just be crafty vicariously through you!

Seriously though, that's super punchi and cute! Since the mini trees don't require a glue gun, I might have to try my hand at those.

I saw the things that looked like the super cute felt trees at a craft store...for
15 dollars >:( I already have fabrics/felts, I will make that one! I will also work on tiny ornaments for it.
I really liked the pipecleaner tree! I am extremly crafty so I will work on some of them AFTER I finish my hamster-cow plush
and my Luna the alien-cat plush :D
