i thought maybe he just had something up his nose last night but i can hear him doing it again tonight :(

should i take him to the vets? or are there other symptoms i should look out for first?

i'm reluctant to take him anywhere because he's been home less than a week and is only 9 weeks old.

i'm almost in tears at the thought of him being ill :( any advice would be much appreciated.

he seems healthy in every other way, is this normal behaviour for a young hamster?

kind of but more muffled and in shorter bursts. he's so active and seems to be adjusting so well. i'm really worried because me, my mum and sister all have a cold :( am i being silly in thinking they can catch a cold from humans?

Not being silly at all. They can absolutely catch colds from humans.

Thank you.

I'm really worried now because he's not up yet and wasn't up early this morning either. I did hear him nibbling in his house earlier though, if I hadn't I'd be assuming the worst right now.

Should I take him to the vets? I feel so awful because I can't afford it at the moment and I feel like I've killed him by bringing him here and giving him this cold. I already love him so much :(

I would give him the thyme tea right away; the vet will give you an antibiotic
and, you must make sure that it's a hamster-safe antibiotic. also, you need
to give your hamster a probiotic like BeneBac (sold in petstores) or a tablespoon
of organic yogurt at least 3 hours before each dosing of antibiotic, to help
protect his digestive tract from the antibiotic.

he was very active last night and this morning and already loves coming out of his cage to play :D
