Name: Yuri
Bought: May 2009
Color: Grey and white, with a black stripe down the middle
Species: Russian Dwarf
Gender: Male
Cage mates: None
Personality/behavior: He was a clumsy little guy that stole my heart. He would come out of his sock or house when we said his name and stand up at the front of his cage when we came nearby. He also had a sunflower addiction.
Health: His eye would close up, probably because I use to use pine shavings.
Cage: 10g tank (small, I know. I plan to upgrade for my next hamster)
D.O.D.: April 21, 2011
Cause of Death: Unknown/Old age. I noticed he was eating less in the last week. I held him the night before he died. He still scurried over my hands as he usually did.

I don't have a picture and it was nearly a year ago now, but I hope I'm okay to post here...

-Name: Kioku (otherwise known as Kyo-chan, Ham-tan, and dubbed Tinkerbell by my mother in the time she pet-sitted her ^^)
-The day that you got them: 09 August 2009
-Color variety: Ruby-eyed black dominant spot, partially banded.
-Species: Syrian
-Comments on behavior: Single minded escape artist with a streak of mischief wider than she was :P
-Any illnesses, or health issues they had in the past: Some eight months or so after I bought Kioku from the pet store, she began drinking too much and suffering various stomach upsets. That was the start of the probelm. We never did quite find out what caused it, but she was euthasnised due to kidney failure when she was barely eleven months old.
-Cage kept in: DIY Bin Cage
-A brief description: Kioku-chan was one of the most intelligent pets I've ever had the pleasure of owning. She was stubborn, wilful, and adored her food maybe a little too much. She was also very personable, and often sat on my knee quietly while I was on my laptop, eating nuts and 'watching' with great interest, occasionally crawling across the keyboard to type seeming potents :P

The period before Kioku got ill was a very black time in my life. I was suffering from severe unmedicated chronic depression, and while I won't go into too much detail, for the longest times she was the only thing standing between me and Doing Something Stupid. In a way, I owed her my life, because it was her dependancy that made me seek professional help. Which was what made her having to be put to sleep all the more awful - I couldn't even LOOK at a hamster for the longest time without choking up, and even now there's a lump in my throat typing this.

-Gender: Female
-Date of Death (D.O.D): 11 July 2010. I buried her under a rosemary bush which has since flourished, since both 'Kioku' and rosemary are connected to memory.

Sorry if that's a bit long...

Though I just lost Spook, I am going to place all the hamsters that I lost in the last year. (Bandit,Cheeto,Spook)

http://i39.tinypic.com/29x6ouh.jpg
Name Bandit
Gender Male
Color Golden banded
D.O.B November 2007
Personality Bandit was a very good boy, he was always content just to stay in his cage if I accidentaly left the door open. Hoever as he grew older he became light and sound sensitive.
How I got him My sister bought Bandit for me as a random gift on a cold January afternoon. I remember walking home from school, and as soon as I went into the living room I noticed my hamster carrier...with a tiny ball of fluff.
D.O.D Auguest 27th 2010.
Cause of Death Bandit died of old age. He was 2yrs and 10 months old. shortly after he turned 2 1/2 years old, he began to lose his fur, his vision was slowly going, and he enjoyed sleep alot more. 2 weeks before he died, he had a slight heart attack, but that didnt really stop him from enjoying the last days of his life. I ended up bringing him with me when we went to novascotia. I had no choice. So I made sure the trip was as stress free as possible. He ended up passing away about 4 days into the trip. He is buried on my grandfathers property in Lockeport Novascotia, Canada.

http://i43.tinypic.com/zxsodi.jpg
Name Cheeto
Gender Female
Color Cinnamon?
D.O.B Unknown.
PersonalitySaucy, nippy, greedy, pushy, ..the list goes on and on. Cheeto was a very rebilous youngster. She was hard to tame, and even when she was I could hardly trust her. She was ruthless, I think she was about 5 months old when she got into a fight with the cat. I dont know how she survived but she escaped with only a torn ear. Shortly after she turned a year, Something suddenly changed in Cheeto, instead of her rebilous ways she turned into a sweet, loyal and gentle hamster. However I never did allow anyone else to hold her because if didnt want to be held or picked up she would certainly tell you.
How I got her Cheeto was a christmas present from my sister, but she was fully grown, and from the lack of social skills must of been at the petstore for a while
D.O.D December 10th 2010.
Cause of death After fighting a losing battle with kidney failure, I made the decison to euthanize her.

http://i43.tinypic.com/vg7yvr.jpg
NameSable
Gender Female
Color Black

Sable was a dwarf hamster, who was with me for only a week. I am not really sure what was wrong with her, she was perfectly fine one day and the next day she was gone. She would of been a good girl, with alot of personality and spunk. She is buried next to Cheeto, in my backyard.

http://i44.tinypic.com/jphegh.jpg
Name Spook
Gender Male
ColorBlack/White banded
D.O.BOct 2010
Personality Skittish, funny, and an expert at escaping. Spook was an easy boy to tame and once tame he enjoyed being handled, and cuddled. (just so long you let him roam on the bed afterwards :P )
How I got him Christmas present from a friend
D.O.D Nov 18, 2011
Cause of death tragically killed by my dog.

D.O.B: October 13, 2008
Gender: Male
Species: Roborovski
Colour: Normal/Agouti
Cage Mates: None
Behaviour Notes: Shämy was pretty tame but a shy boy...
