Gosh, some people are just hateful towards hamsters. Don't they realize that they're good pets, too? Dogs and cats are taking the spotlight. Poor hamsters! I wish there was a place where hamsters could live freely.
Oh definitely, Sparklebells! Hamsters are definitely overlooked creatures. Fortunately we afficionados are here to make the world a better place for our fluffly little friends everywhere!

Where is Petco? I nver heard of that name. And if i know i will thank u for the warningI bought a dwarf hamster from them 2 weeks ago, it died of wetail within a week so I brought it back and they replaced him with my new dwarf "tweak", who yesterday morning I found out had wet tail. I called petco and told them I want them to take him to the vets and pay for it. So they did and guess what? he died this morning.
The person I talked to when the first one died said its been happening with alot of their hamsters both dwarf and not that theyve been getting from their supplier. The supplier apprantly has been sending them very young, to the point where petco has had to keep them in the back for quite some time before displaying them.
Also I fail to believe that they properly clean the tanks in the back and on display before they put new hamsters in them after an infected hamster has been in there. When I told them why dont you just get a new supplier they said simply because they like getting them young people will only buy them if they THINK theyre young so the younger the better.

So in my experience dwarf hamsters can most certainly too get wet tail. It just seems more deadly for their small systems.

I don't know where people are getting the idea that dwarves can't get wet tail. Two of my own home bred hamsters have gotten wet tail. I had also bought a young female from petco, one that was white with black spots, because I couldn't find anyone in my area that bred those and she died of wettail 10 days after I got her home. I got another one from them and she got wet tail within a week. Took her to the vet there but they were going to make her wait until the next day. I got my money back and was told they'd call if she survived. Never did get that call.

ive been told by a few breeders that they can't get wet-tail. i think a lot of people think diaherra = wettail and there's more to it than that.

Also, if you want to report them for animal cruelty you just have to contact the ASPCA in your area. In this case I would.
