i saw this on the news and heard it on the radio, it was all over every news channel for a while. what that man did was gross and disturbing. he seriously needs to be locked up in a mental hospital. no person in their right mind would do that, he is definitely ill in the head.
well, what that man did does happen to animals, but PETA could have made their point numerous different ways. I don't think Tim's family would want to see ads to do with his death.

but why does everyone hate PETA so much? don't they help animals?

“God is punishing Canada for passing laws against WBC — by exposing Canadians as cannibals and highway decapitaters,” the church says in a news release on its website, which refers to McLean as “The Headless Canadian.”

ONe instance turns it against us all?!
I'm appalled they actually sait that!

Whatever. I'm currently looking to find a different forum. One where people can be respected for their opinions. So um, go bash PETA some more. Go kill animals. Go talk about how you love them. Have fun, kids.

Well, peace then.
You're not going to find a perfect forum, if that's what your after; not everyone is going to agree thaty PETA is awsome, especially after this.
We never not once said we disrespected your opinion, your taking things to far and bringing things up that do not relate to anything.

No one is killing animals, so I don't know where you pulled that from... :boggled:

Being overly obsessed with PETA doesn't make you a bigger animal lover btw, I'm sure you've offended many of us with that statement...

Think about the additional distress this will cause the family and friends of the victim if PETA gets their way. This does not help animal rights at all.

Yeah I agree with you 100%.
It doesn't help anything, it just creates THIS. A riot. People are not happy with their decision. Obveously, but why should they?

In 2005 some activists in the UK dug up a grave and stole the body of the grandmother of someone who worked in an animal lab, that is not helping out the cause of animal rights, that is akin to terrorism IMO.

See? Like who does that?
That is horrible.
You're right it is, very much so in relation to terrorism.
I thought people who passed were supposed to rest in peace, not be exploited like that for nothing, and it doesn't prove or help anything.

Let me get one thing straight.
I don't agree with EVERYTHING peta does. But that doesn't mean I go around making topics bashing them and it also doesn't mean I won't support them. There's no 'perfect' organization. I'm SURE that the SPCA has euthanized an animal before or has made a mistake - does that mean you won't support them?!
If you call me 'overly-obsessed' with PETA, I can call you 'overly-hateful' of PETA.
I'm not looking for a perfect forum, Jordyn.
I'm looking for one where people are LIKED for what they are.

The people on this forum are way too obsessed with inside jokes and flaunt them all over the place. You have no idea how bad it makes me feel that I TRY to be nice and friendly to people, and make friends, and to tell you the truth I feel so excluded from all the friend groups, the cliques, the inside jokes. I HAVE NO FRIENDS ON HAMSTER HIDEOUT. I'm sick of seeing you and your little clique displayed right there in your siggy. I'm sick of the fights, the name-calling.. I'm sick of everything.

THAT'S why, Jordyn, I'm looking for a new forum. Not because I need a perfect one. Because apparently, NO ONE wants me here.

Just one thing.
I will be nice now .
Cus my post above may have been a bit out of order.

I am not in a clique on this forum.
I am my own person and i have my own views and opinions.

I also dont have many friends on here.
But i didnt see any arguments starting until you got involved in this thread.

Sorry but thats my opinion

Tom

Edit: Nobody said they didnt want you here its just every peta thread that gets made.
You seem to argue back with people thats all (:

I understand it's easy for two peoples views to conflict with each other, but we shouldn't be making personal comments to each other. Let's just keep it general.

I think PETA took a step too far this time. I understand they have to be "provocative" in order to get heard, but they had no right to take a human life in such a gruseome manner. I'm all up for peaceful protests against animal cruelty, but not when someone's life comes into question.

I sure hope they do...
Teach them some kind of lesson.

I don't care if I didn't know who Tim was, he's Canadian, and what they did to him and his family was flat out wrong.

See, I don't think this thread was made to bash PETA, but to point out one of the things they are doing wrong.
PETA does a lot of things which turns people off, but it also does a lot of things that enlighten people. PETA has it's flaws, but at the same it has it's extremists. I mean, at the heart, PETA disagrees with ownership of pets and believe animals should all be in the wild. I disagree with that view. If I set my dog loose in the wild he'd die. He's domesticated and it's cruel to turn a domesticated animal into the wild. However, they also advocate animal rights -- something I agree with. It was because of PETA that I became aware of the way various animals are treated in the mass-market and as a result I only buy organic meats now and I only support local farmers. The meat is also way tastier -- organic meat is the shiz.

Let me get one thing straight.

Hammy, I don't think this is a personal ploy against you. You're taking it personal because this is something you're passionate about. I don't think this thread was made, again, with the intent to bash PETA, persay, just pointing out one ( of the many... ) things they are doing wrong. PETA has a tendency to go extremist and use things in bad taste to get their points across. However, that doesn't necessarily define the organization, as you said. They do a lot of good, too. They do do good things in good taste and they do stuff for their cause and they have made people listen. I mean, Pet-smart and Petco stood up and listened to them about Hamster mills. I mean, I don't know if it did a ton of good, but Petco did stop supporting one of the worst Hamster mills there is ( in Texas ). Although, recently they signed back on because they said the facility had cleaned itself up. Either way, they do good things as well.

I think as long as there are people there are going to be fights. It's unavoidable.
I mean, you should be on a forum enjoying yourself. If you aren't, then you should find another forum. I can't understand how you're feeling and I wont pretend to, but I think you are a very passionate person about your beliefs and this sometimes makes things difficult for others to handle. The way you expressed your first post was a bit hostile and I don't know if it was intentional, but I recognize you might have felt attacked by this because it's an organization you support. I think everyone should just let this go and chalk it up as a misunderstanding. If it's any consolation, I don't dislike you or have a problem with you. I'd venture to say I'm one of many that feel this way. However, there may be some that don't and there's nothing you can do about it except try to talk to them privately.

THAT'S why, Jordyn, I'm looking for a new forum. Not because I need a perfect one. Because apparently, NO ONE wants me here.

Good luck! I hope you find some place that makes you comfortable. I'm sorry it can't be here, but just know there will always be problems wherever you go. So it's best to just solve them and either move on, or stay.

Anyways. Sorry to get a bit off topic guys, I just feel that when a member is feeling outcasted or hurt, even if it's a bit off topic, it's better to address the situation than just stop talking about it. Those issues tend to build up until a member leaves -- like right now.

Anyways, to sort of throw it back on topic -- Tom McLean, RIP :sorry: ...

All I can say is have fun and good bye.
Nobody said they didn't "want" you here. Idk where you got that from.
Just please chill out,kid.
Nobody is out to bash anybody :goodvibes:
Jordyn just wanted people to know about Tim's death. And may he rest in peace instead of having people fight ;)

OK,lets get back on topic before this turns into a big blown out fight. This topic doesn't need to be closed! :D
Wait,Jordyn, they are going to put up an ad to compare his death?
Wowwwwwwww.
Thats weird and mean.
WAIT A MIN!
they can't do that!
It would be disturbing the peace!!
AHA! I found a reason why they can't put the ad up! :propeller:
It would be disturbing the peace, and its indecent exposer to children. :o They can't do that, can they? I would assume the Canada goverment would take control :boggled:

I don't agree with PETA especially with this issue. However important this is to PETA, to make their point that animals are abused, they should not be using Tim as an example. The poor guy! Killed for no reason! Thats horrible. But PETA does not have any consent saying they can compare Tim to animals used for meat or abuse. Don't get me wrong! Animal abuse is horrible! But this just isn't in any way fair to Tim. :disappointed: I know that a lot of people agree with PETA and a lot dont but this was not made to bash PETA(like many people have said). This thread was made to show the wrong(or right, if any) that PETA has done with this ONE issue. We aren't talking about anything else.

I think the whole point is that if ANY organisation was using this tragedy to further their own cause we would all be just as outraged, its not just a bash against PETA, it just happens that they are the ones that have done it and it is fundamentally wrong.

Good point.
That is exactly why I don't really support any organization, so as long as I know that animal cruelty is wrong.
I don't need someone to tell me it is, I know it is.

OK,lets get back on topic before this turns into a big blown out fight. This topic doesn't need to be closed!

Yeah they are! Isn't that sick?
They're puting it in some...uhm magazine or somthing.
I'm not sure.
But yeah that's not cool, at all.
They can't, but I'm sure they most certainly will. Who's going to stop them? They don't listen to anyone.
I would hope the goverment does something, because they need to be stopped.
There is no possitive way to look at it, there just isn't.

Like it's been said it's not benefiting animal cruelty at all.
They're just trying to make themselves look 'better'.

See, I don't think this thread was made to bash PETA, but to point out one of the things they are doing wrong.

Thank you.
It never was, but it always ends up that way....funny.
