I like PETA. I'm not explaining myself to you guys. All I'm saying is I like PETA and I ALWAYS will
See, I don't think this thread was made to bash PETA, but to point out one of the things they are doing wrong.
PETA does a lot of things which turns people off, but it also does a lot of things that enlighten people. PETA has it's flaws, but at the same it has it's extremists. I mean, at the heart, PETA disagrees with ownership of pets and believe animals should all be in the wild. I disagree with that view. If I set my dog loose in the wild he'd die. He's domesticated and it's cruel to turn a domesticated animal into the wild. However, they also advocate animal rights -- something I agree with. It was because of PETA that I became aware of the way various animals are treated in the mass-market and as a result I only buy organic meats now and I only support local farmers. The meat is also way tastier -- organic meat is the shiz.
Let me get one thing straight.
I don't agree with EVERYTHING peta does. But that doesn't mean I go around making topics bashing them and it also doesn't mean I won't support them. There's no 'perfect' organization. I'm SURE that the SPCA has euthanized an animal before or has made a mistake - does that mean you won't support them?!
If you call me 'overly-obsessed' with PETA, I can call you 'overly-hateful' of PETA.
I'm not looking for a perfect forum, Jordyn.
I'm looking for one where people are LIKED for what they are.
Hammy, I don't think this is a personal ploy against you. You're taking it personal because this is something you're passionate about. I don't think this thread was made, again, with the intent to bash PETA, persay, just pointing out one ( of the many... ) things they are doing wrong. PETA has a tendency to go extremist and use things in bad taste to get their points across. However, that doesn't necessarily define the organization, as you said. They do a lot of good, too. They do do good things in good taste and they do stuff for their cause and they have made people listen. I mean, Pet-smart and Petco stood up and listened to them about Hamster mills. I mean, I don't know if it did a ton of good, but Petco did stop supporting one of the worst Hamster mills there is ( in Texas ). Although, recently they signed back on because they said the facility had cleaned itself up. Either way, they do good things as well.
The people on this forum are way too obsessed with inside jokes and flaunt them all over the place. You have no idea how bad it makes me feel that I TRY to be nice and friendly to people, and make friends, and to tell you the truth I feel so excluded from all the friend groups, the cliques, the inside jokes. I HAVE NO FRIENDS ON HAMSTER HIDEOUT. I'm sick of seeing you and your little clique displayed right there in your siggy. I'm sick of the fights, the name-calling.. I'm sick of everything.
I think as long as there are people there are going to be fights. It's unavoidable.

I mean, you should be on a forum enjoying yourself. If you aren't, then you should find another forum. I can't understand how you're feeling and I wont pretend to, but I think you are a very passionate person about your beliefs and this sometimes makes things difficult for others to handle. The way you expressed your first post was a bit hostile and I don't know if it was intentional, but I recognize you might have felt attacked by this because it's an organization you support. I think everyone should just let this go and chalk it up as a misunderstanding. If it's any consolation, I don't dislike you or have a problem with you. I'd venture to say I'm one of many that feel this way. However, there may be some that don't and there's nothing you can do about it except try to talk to them privately.
THAT'S why, Jordyn, I'm looking for a new forum. Not because I need a perfect one. Because apparently, NO ONE wants me here.
Good luck! I hope you find some place that makes you comfortable. I'm sorry it can't be here, but just know there will always be problems wherever you go. So it's best to just solve them and either move on, or stay.
Anyways. Sorry to get a bit off topic guys, I just feel that when a member is feeling outcasted or hurt, even if it's a bit off topic, it's better to address the situation than just stop talking about it. Those issues tend to build up until a member leaves -- like right now.
Anyways, to sort of throw it back on topic -- Tom McLean, RIP
