No you're right, we don't.

But if you have a Facebook account, join this group and show your support for Tim and his family. ;)

What a sick world we live in,huh?

You're absolutely right... a sick world where we kill humans and animals just because we feel like it. I'm so sick of people who think they're against animal cruelty and then eat animals and say it's okay to kill animals but not people.

This forum is filled with so much ignorance, it's honestly really, really sad...

That has nothing to do with anything... It really doesn't.

We;re not talking about animal cruetly, we're talking about what PETa has done to a man who's lost his life horrendously, and how they are taking advantage of it.

And thats real mature, accuse people who eat meat as people who hate animals.
If you going to post things of offtopic randomness then pleade don't post at all.
I think this is a very serious issue, and I din;t want it to close... Some people see what I'm talking about, and are getting into a good conversation.

Again, lets stay on topic....
On that grouo there was a person who said that they are posting stuff like this for attention, and by ignoring their outrages, they will feel lesss powerful.
Alot of people are sending them hate mail, and I think they deserve it, but then again yeah it's supplying them with unneeded attention.

I think I know what my next newspaper article is going to be about! :D

Yeah. I eat meat, and I don't hate animals! I support WWF and stuff. I even plan on being a ASPCA agent one day,so yeah...

LOL,Jordyn XD
Make sure to email me the article :o

You know whats...odd?
They ONLY showed the thing on the news ONCE.....And thats odd.
Usually something big like this gets tons of air-time,but it was like "a man was killed, blah blah" and then something else....I'm still confuse on that :boggled: Maybe some people sent in some complaints or something..Who knows. But it was still weird how they only showed it once on Fox News...

Well certainly. It's a stupid stereotype, tbh.

Yeah I know!
It said it made global headlines, but some people I know havn't heard of it.
Obveously, it wasn't taken very seriously.

It's still pretty big here, now they're talking about the guy going to court.
He's already begged for them to give him the death sentence; but hey, atleast he can admit he's not sane?

Like I said, whatever sentence he gets is too good for him...

Edit:
Oh yeah they really liked my article on teen drinking, and they asked me to do another one! :D
I felt so good, but yeah this seems to be a good idea for a topic! Proving that young people care about society!!

yeah it is odd. I never even saw it on the news,my dad saw an article online about it and told me about it.

Wow that suprises me. do you think he feels bad for what he did?

I doubt it.
From what I've read/seen, he seems pretty happy with himself, and he full out admitted to doing it.
But you never know. If he pleaded death, he realized what he did was wrong?
Who knows.

I admire anyone with strong convictions, I do, but maturity involves being able to see and taking on board points of view from opposing sides, only then can you consider the whole picture. That is not just the PETA debate that is life in general, an open mind is an enlightened one. Jordyn is right that this never should have been hijacked to make a political statement on animal welfare, we all care about that but how must his parents and family feel? By all means campaign for ethical treatment of animals, I support that, I do not support making a situation that is already heart breaking even more so.

In 2005 some activists in the UK dug up a grave and stole the body of the grandmother of someone who worked in an animal lab, that is not helping out the cause of animal rights, that is akin to terrorism IMO.

Personally, I also do not agree with what PETA was trying to do in this case. I did some reading up on the incident and the killing was clearly done in a very sick manner. I strongly suggest that younger members refrain from researching into the details of the incident to avoid being traumatised.

I agree that there is cruelty in killing animals for food or their body parts. But like it or not, the majority of people will always view humans at the highest level of the eco-system or food-chain or whatever.

I feel that as we are becoming a more civilised society, we are trying to move away from what society deems barbaric behaviour such as cannibalism and senseless killing of fellow humans, perhaps sometime in the future, we will acknowledge that other animals have the right to live alongside humans without the fear of being killed, mistreated or consumed.

Think about the additional distress this will cause the family and friends of the victim if PETA gets their way. This does not help animal rights at all.

I disagree with PETA as well for that. I respect members who want to prevent harm to animals and advocate animal rights, but there are also those members not only a part of PETA, but running it that are extremist and it's unfortunate. I think they have the right idea, they just choose bad ways to execute their opinions and turn people away. For instance, I love that they brought to the for-front how chickens and cows are treated in the mass industry, however, doing things like this shows their extremist side. Tim McLean deserves to rest in peace after such a horrific death and his parents deserve to be able to get over it.

... I read up on his death as well and I can't help but say it took a lot not to cry. It's horrific. It's just ...
The part that made me cry most was this in another part;

Canadian border guards are under orders to prevent members of a fundamentalist American church from crossing into Canada to protest at the funeral Saturday of a Winnipeg man brutally killed on a Greyhound bus last week.

Westboro Baptist Church, a controversial Kansas-based sect, intends to picket the funeral of 22-year-old Tim McLean to tell Canadians his slaying on July 30 was God’s response to Canadian policies enabling abortion, homosexuality and adultery.

“God is punishing Canada for passing laws against WBC — by exposing Canadians as cannibals and highway decapitaters,” the church says in a news release on its website, which refers to McLean as “The Headless Canadian.”

See, you could say this Baptist Church isn't exploiting his death, just showing how it relates to the cause -- but it's not right, is it? It's not okay, just like it isn't okay for PETA to attempt to use it as a comparison, or a basis.
May Tom McLean rest in peace and I have best wishes for his family. Wow, just -- wow. For all those people who witnessed it and .. man. Yeah. :sorry:

:sarcastic: whaatever. petakills or whatever is obviously fake. no offense but it's just ridiculous you think that's true! It was made by people like you guys, who don't like PETA because of dumb reasons.
there's nothing wrong with comparing ONE human death to MILLIONS of cow or pig or whatever deaths. Think.about.it.

Hello^^

There is NO need to offend us like that ! !!
Sorry but i dont take being offeneded like that.
Im not going to comment anymore but your the one starting a fight in this topic.

This topic is for peopel who Thing its wrong about what happened.
and i dotn think we need a peta suppourter coming in trying to plead there case.
Why cant they do it for themselves then?
We dont need a fighting on HH

That isnt a dumb reason.
How would u like it if someone u loved died.
And peta exploited them.

Think.about.it

Thats all i have to say.

Whatever. I'm currently looking to find a different forum. One where people can be respected for their opinions. So um, go bash PETA some more. Go kill animals. Go talk about how you love them. Have fun, kids. :)
