the reason why animals are banned are becoz too many of the same kind can destroy their local breeds, this is esp so for irresponsible owners whom abandoned their pets.
in us, cats are so overpopulated that they killed birds and small animals. again human faults...singapore also faced cat problem but the problem is still a problem. luckily our hamsters friends is still under control as i dun see wild hamsters running around, cant imagine that too.

Do you have Hamster Police in NZ? Ok just kidding...
Eh, then how come sheeps are allowed... they're endangering the *erm* grass population...
Well anyways I feel sorry for ya too... actually if hamsters would be illegal in the country where I'm from, I would still keep them and only way they could take my hammies away from me would be over my dead body!!!

I can't imagine having any animal banned. As far as I know, I can get all the animals I've heard of. That must suck, though.

Perhaps in such places, mice/rats are not even considered as "pets", maybe "pests" instead! LOLI just dont get it: If hamsters werent allowed, why are mouse/rats?

Oh yeah, they are pests. My neighbor gets wild mice in her house and they chew EVERYTHING. There is definitely a difference between wild and domestic though, so unless people would let their pets loose outside, I don't see why there would be a problem.Perhaps in such places, mice/rats are not even considered as "pets", maybe "pests" instead! If mice and such are allowed? why arent hammies? the hammies cause no trouble, they most likely will die than cause harm---I just dont get it :(
And here they sell crittertrail and Habitrail, these cages are wayy to big for a mice and most likely they can squeeze through

And I don't think those cages would be too big. But then...I don't really remember how big a mouse is. Not that much smaller than a syrian hamster, are they?
