ok i went to my pets at home store and the rodents were in really bad shape
the rats were lying motionlessly
every rodent had 1 eye closed
the chinese hamster cage was trashed (feeding bowls, bed, water bottle tipped over)
the syrians were running around really weirdly
and everyone was looking at them and saying 'they dont look healthy'

Some P@H don't treat their pets greatly
My P@H is ok but the tanks are too small for so many hamsters.

I have heard so many bad things about that place that I blanky refuse to buy anything from there.

I went in to that shop the other day though and the rabbits had no food and water, the hamsters looked in a bad way, I was devistated!

My pets@home is ok, but the animals they get income from are in smaller cages than the one that are up for adoption. And it's pretty expensive!

My pets at home is nice.
Clean and the animlas are healthy.
Yes the tanks/cages are on he small size for the amount of hamsters in them; but remember they will not be in there for long, until they get a home:)

Pets@Home have a bad rep when it comes to their animals. I have to admit each time I have been in any animals that were in (they never had much) looked okay. The birds always looked happy.

I'm not trying to defend the shop at all but the Chinese cage sounds completely normal to me (it sounds like they need to secure their water bottles properly though) All 5 of mine trash their tanks, I don't bother trying to make it look "nice" any more because they just ruin it again in minutes  :sarcastic:

My local one isn't too bad, there have never been any wheels in with the rodents since they started but they have clean bedding, fresh food, fresh water and have always seemed healthy. The tanks are small but they are for all animals in all the pet shops around here. The shops think it doesn't matter because -usually- the animals aren't in them for long.

They do however tell you a load of rubbish when it comes to the care of the animals!

There will be many people to defend them, I personally doubt all their stores are bad. Fair enough some might be worse than others, and the ones that aren't that bad, still aren't great but I think it depends on who works there and how much they care (or don't as the case may be.)

I saw a pets at home worker opening one of the (tiny) cages to get a hammy out for somebody - she squirmed and wouldn't touch it. Good expiriancd workers eh? Not!
Pets at home arn't too bad though, well some arn't. In the jumbo wheels they put a sticker over the guinea pig picture and it said "not suitable for guinea pigs", so that might have helped. I must admit the cages are small though. By putting degus + chinchillas in such tiny cages it gives the impression that thats the cage they should be kept in - which it is too small for them. And the hamster cages are awful.

Our local P@H is okay, the hamsters are in too small cages though and one of my hammie died from wet tail from it.

Overall, I don't like P@H that much...

The one by me isn't too bad, the rodents normally look pretty healthy and some cages have wheels in which is better than a lot of other places i've been even if the cages are too small. The dumbo rats didn't look too healthy last time i went though, and they could do with cleaning the water bottles properly and putting wheels in the other cages, but other than that its okay.

I got Coke from P@H, but I can't go anywhere else, because there are no pet shops near me that look clean or healthy.
When I got Coke, there was one hamster, a chinese dwarf, that had no fur on it's neck and there was a big cut there, but the hamster was happily walking around, not lying on the shaving squeaking or anything.
But, as I said, I'm stuck with the P@H near me, but overall it isn't that bad (not including the chinese dwarf).
