I don't understand why some can feel complete indifference towards the same species of the their own beloved pets. Your pets are lucky to be your pets, being loved and cared for. But if they are unlucky, they are born as feeder hamsters, with no proper food and care, and ended up as "food" for snakes with ppl saying happily that its okay since snakes always eat mice and hamsters. In nature, snakes prey on hamsters and mices which are mostly the weak and the old ones. That's part of nature's population control, I have nothing to say about that. But in an artificial environment, snakes are given an advantage by being fed healthy mice and hamsters without the need for hunting. I guess there is no other choices in a zoo but that doesn't mean that it is right to do so.
No offenses, but try to imagine; if you are born to be a feeder for a tiger/lion/crocodile/any other predator, will you be happy about it? Let's say if you ended living happily with that predator, and it got on news and ppl are saying "Hey, its awesome!", would you be happy and proud about it?

Snakes are natural predators of hamsters, so hamsters are naturally afraid of snakes. And the hamsters we have are domesticated, thus being used to humans resulting in far less stress in hamsters when living with humans. I had mentioned before that this maybe an exception, but in general, its a stressful situation for any hamsters.Â
