Here is a link to what happened: http://www.helpinganimals.com/f-petsmart_lcmv.html
Finally, a light is shining down on what happened! What I mean is that I had no real clue as to what happened.

"What You Can Do
Help PETA put pressure on CDC officials. Tell them to protect the American public from the fatal diseases spread by exotic “pets” by immediately banning their sale and display in classrooms"

Nooooooooooo!!!!

This is sad... I'm honestly speechless... I have nothing to say...

You didn't know about this? Lol it was all over the news a couple months ago.

I hate peta...and I hate how on that site they say "pets", with the quotations. Off topic yes but it annoys me, like how I'll buy something and it says "for hamsters, gerbils, mice, pet rats", like they need to make clear to people that OMG yes rats are pets. OKay I'm done.

Exactly...it's like, if anything, this just shows us how we need to make SURE organs aren't infected with things if they are going to be transplanted.

That article pretty much explains everything. It's sad really, people see that someone died from rodents and that's all they care to hear...they don't even want to hear how things really went.

My PETsMART is still selling small animals, but my Petco is really annoying me, they 'remodled' and now have only TWO shelves for the small animals and TWO shelves for the reptiles! I'm so mad, everything else is dog, cat, and bird (and its a big store!). I mentioned this to a salesperson who was snapping at people and told her I wasn't gonna be shopping there anymore until they actually cared about ALL their animals. Hehe I don't think she liked that, but too bad...

OK, I'm too lazy to read these articles, but I think I get the jist of it all. A person who had an organ transplant died because the donor had a diesease which was passed through the organ, and its allllll the rodent's fault because it passed the disease?

They make rodents sound like serial killers... dude, they're just little balls of fluff with whiskers... hehe

Ugh. This is sad. The donor's organ was infected and the doctors didn't check, so they blame it on anyone BUT themselves. They don't want to get in trouble, so they used rodents as an excuse. Shifting the blame on innocent bystandards.... *Sigh*

LOL, maybe we will have to buy hamsters from the black market soon? Wee. Fun. Ugh, okay it will really suck if they stop selling hamsters and hamster supplies at most petshops. :(

"So... did you get the, uh, 'thing' I sent you?"
"Yeah, I got the, uh, 'thing'. It's cute!"

Noooo! Don't let that be the future of hamster sales! >_<

Yeah, mine 2! It's got 2 whole ilsee 4 hammies and stuff, 1 4 bunnies and chinny stuff and the rest is birds, fish(A LOT!)cats, dogs and reptiles!
Not 2 mention that they have a gromming store thingy there and an area for cats that don't have a home.I'm not sure if eventually all petssmart will take away their animals! But I hope not. I know however that this story was not made such a big deal of here!Sure there wuz an article but it wuz a little 1 in the dark corners of the paper!

But I am totally prepared for the black market! We can make a website, ya see called BlackHammies or something and then post adds there! lol, this COULD work!

Our blackmarket would have to be kept secret... We could talk about it only to our most trusted friends and such. LOL. Start a little ring of illegal hamster and hamster supply sales. XD Mehehehe..... that would be fun...

Anywho..... I think the doctors are to blame for the deaths of those three people. They should have checked those darned organs. Personally, I think they are being selfish for damaging businesses, heck ruining some, just to save their careers. Pfff.... they could do other things......

It's not that Petsmart is *stopping* the sale of small animals. Just for now because the infected animals are from Petsmart, so they need to get them checked, get a new supplier, whatever to make sure their animals aren't sick. It may be a while, but there WILL be hamsters to buy lol.

I do think people have missed out on a LOT of the important info, but they really do need to stress that it was from the rodents. They can't just say what the virus is, people need to know where it came from...but at the same time I find it hard to believe that people would make such a huge deal out of it if people were getting it from dogs. At the very least, the media wouldn't leave out such huge facts. Most articles out there make it seem like the guy who donated the organs died from this virus (which he didn't) and that if we catch it we are going to like, drop dead. :p

*cough* I think I could ramble on forever about this.

there is always a risk for sumthin like that. doctors should have checked the organs more carefully. that was pretty much the only problem. lol. we should make a black market  i hope they resolve this problem soon because i like going to petco and looking at all the hamsters and mice and ratties
