My Petsmart never has very many animals anyway, usually just a hamster or 2, a couple rats, and a guinea pig. :p I heard though that they are going to change their supplier or something, but until then, no small animals. Which is fine with me because I hate Petsmart.

I rather get hams from Petco then Petsmart. Our Petsmart has old and sickly hamsters. They just got rid of all of there small animals. Because there were these Honey hamsters that never were bought and the rodents there weren't being sold... so... Ya when I'm 16 I should go work in the hamster department.

I don't think they honestly care or they would have actually known about the thing I just said. Its probably more of a "Hey, Department of Agriculture, look at us, we care!" kind of thing. If the Dept. of Ag. comes down on them then the store will have to close (most likely temporarily). How would it look to their image if a Petsmart closed due to Salmonella?
I dunno, the Dept. of Agriculture branch where I live is really picky... if we're sweeping at the shelter and there's too much stuff in the swept pile we could be written up for uncleanliness...

I don't think they're doing it just because they CAN have salmonella, but because the infected animals were from Petsmart. WOuld be interesting to know if the Petcos are doing this too?
Oh well...not like I had any plans to get another pet lol.
