Hi!
I was wondering If you have any opinions about giving hamsters pellets, as main food or blended with other kinds of food?

I'm personally not a fan of pellets, I think it isn't natural for the hamster at all, and many other things that aren't especially good for hamsters are added.

Feel free to share your opinion!

I think it depends on who you ask. Old school hamster people think hamsters must have pellets but as hamster care has evolved people have moved away from pellet feeding. There are so many more options for feeding now than there used to be.

I personally don't feed pellets and make my own mix. I'm happy with my results.

Also not a big fan. Many people use it as protein booster, but I recommend insects or freeze dried chicken over pellets. Pellets are mostly just synthetic vitamins mixed in with some other junk. I used to always supplement a seed mix with pellets, but once I actually read the pellet ingredients I realized it wasn't that great. Hamsters were built to absorb and utilize nutrients from what they would eat in the wild, not some vitamin powder.
