a few of you might know but i really want a crested gecko but i can't find them anywhere in indonesia. I still have this feeling of wanting a new pet.

Requirements:
doesn't take up too much space (i live with my parents)

no fish or hamsters (i already have them)
no mice or rats (not available in indonesia)

no invertebrates (my parents would probably not allow them)

doesn't need live feeders (no place to put them)

no birds (my mom doesnt agree with keeping them as pets unless we dedicate one room for it)

doesn't live past 6 years

no bunnies (i REALLY want one but my parents would force me too keep it outside)

no cats or dog (my dad doesn't like them)

For furry animals, all I can think of is maybe, ferrets, guinea pigs, gerbils. Ferrets and guinea pigs do require large cages, so that may not be the best option. Maybe some sort of frog or turtle, although turtles live longer than six years.

Ferrets can live as much as 10 years and I've had a guinea pig that lived to be 7 years. Neither one of those pets is suitable if you have limited space, income and vet fund. One of my ferrets passed away from insulinoma, which is extremely common, and after spending thousands on treatment, her seizures got so severe that her brain got damaged beyond hope and she had to be put down. Guinea pigs need A LOT of attention and space and costly food and you end up cleaning up after them at least once a day. Another thing to note about ferrets is that they are killing machines when it comes to rodents. The smell that ferrets produce already are going to drive your hamster to a lot of stress and don't underestimate them being able to squeeze into the smallest of spaces or open things that are not locked.

When it comes to getting a pet, you need to assess you situation first. No one here will be able to help you with choosing a pet as we don't know how much space you've got,how much money you can put into the vet fund, how much you can afford in terms of ongoing costs, how much time you can dedicate to your pet... The fact that you live with your parents and are depending on them greatly limits your options and it might be best to wait until you have your own place before deciding to take on a commitment like a new pet.
