I have two hamsters and i have them for about a year. i got them as a suprise when i barely knew any hamster care. im often worried/anxious that my care might not be good enough and that my hamsters could be unhappy. im also worried that something bad will happen to them. its also important to mention that one of them has some kind of red ball on him and the only way to remove could kill him so im also worried about that.

is it normal for most hamster owners?

Edit: ill probably give them to someone else even if they are a year old i want them to live in a better and less stressful place

Hello!

Concern here and there is good, it shows you care. But what you're describing seems like you're a little bit too anxious. I understand this, but I don't think it's healthy for you. It might be a good idea to talk about your worries with someone you trust in real life and talk about how you can reduce the stress you have over your hamster.

MKmangifico said it perfectly. :) But I just wanted to chime in as another anxious person (case in point, MKmagnifico just replied to my own thread, where I'm being anxious about my hamster, haha).

In general, it's normal to be a little worried/concerned about lots of things. But if it ever gets to the point where you seem *overly* worried, or it happens all of the time or it's having an impact on you and your mood/life (it sounds like this is where you're at, otherwise you wouldn't be asking us this question :) ), then definitely talking to someone is a great idea. In my case, I talk to a therapist (not just about hamsters, haha! But definitely about hamsters sometimes. :) She talks to me about anything I'm anxious about), but a trusted friend or relative can be great as well. Just like MK said, sometimes being too anxious isn't good for you! And taking good care of yourself is an important part in being able to take good care of a pet. :)

Do you know what the "red ball" is? Is it growing? You may want to post about it in the Ailments & Injuries section for more advice.

Some anxiety is normal, but constant worrying does wear on you. With general care, it's not about being perfect. We can't be perfect. The main goal is that your hamsters have a happy and healthy life.

Im not sure what the red ball is, the vet told me he could only remove it trough surgery because he isnt sure what is it either.

also im not worried about their life not being perfect im worried about their life not being good at all
