I'm currently planning to build a 22x44x25in enclosure for my male Syrian hamster. I've been searching for glass to use, but I can't find any that is large enough for the design I have mapped out. There are websites to get glass custom cut and delivered, but I've been quoted at almost $250USD for those, so I've been looking at other options, plexiglass being one of them. Does anybody have experience working with plexiglass or using it for a hamster enclosure? My main concern is static electricity building up and zapping the little guy on the nose. Any and all advice will be massively helpful! :)

You would want to get glass locally, if you go that route. Shipping a large sheet of glass is bound to expensive and precarious.

Lots of people use plexiglass/acrylic sheets instead because they don't shatter. You might get a bit of static though.

I use plexiglass, haven't had any problems with it. Haven't noticed any static either and she spends alot of time near the plexiglass.

Plexiglass is cheaper, lighter, doesn't shatter and binding materials work better with it than the do with glass.
