I have a cat as well as a hamster. It has been fine. I would consider maybe putting your hamster on a different floor of your house and keeping your cat downstairs. I used to let my cat into my hamsters room, but he would make my hamster scared and unsettled so I moved his cage (the hamster) upstairs and got a baby gate to keep my cat from going upstairs. My cat occasionally pushes the gate over and gets upstairs so I moved my hamster into an empty closet in my guest bedroom and closed one of the closet doors and left the other cracked. My cat sometimes opens the doors so then I just started locking the cat in a separate room when I wasn't home to watch him (Which is what I should have done in the first place). Now my cat hasn't gotten to my hamster and my hamster is heathy and happy! I love my cat and my hamster but they do not like each other!!

Yep, as long as you keep your cat away from your hamster and you know that your hamster is safe, it should be ok. It can also depend on the personality of your cat. If Rex is a friendly act, then he could get on well with your hamster. Cats and hamsters have been known to happily co-exist together, but you may want to take certain precautions to be sure that your hamster is safe. Cats do see hamsters as prey animals and their natural instinct is to hunt and eat them. A good idea would be to keep your hamster in a room of which your cat has no access to your hamster 'room'. Also, try and avoid playing with your hamster when Rex is awake or in the same room as you and your hamster. But it is perfectly possible that your hamster could end up getting along amazingly with your cat - but it really depends on the personality of your cat and hamster. Hope that this helps --- A

Hello!!
I love Rag doll cats and really want one (altho that isn't rly possible since I have a rescue cat rn but..)!!
Having a hamster and cat at the same time should be fine as long as you make sure your hammy doesn't escape.
Hope this helps!!
