The Ontario Hamster Club is one of the biggest hamster organizations. They generally are referred to when talking about different care minimums. They, along with the California Hamster Association, created the 450 sq inch minimum for North America. Recently I’ve been hearing that they make such small minimums compared to other groups due to the fact that the main people behind this club are breeders, and smaller minimums would be easier for them due to having so much animals. What are your thoughts on that?

I don't think that the OCH created the minimum, I believe it was created on this very forum - http://hamsterhideout.com/forum/topic/62126-upping-the-minimum-cage-size/but OCH and other North American hamster communities adopted it and continued promoting it :)

I am pretty sure that "minimums" are very unofficial and based on people's opinions and currently available cage sizes. I doubt any of it is based on much actual evidence lol. That's why in my latest video on my channel, I said the "unofficial USA mininum is 450 square inches" and it's very debatable.

I make a pretty lame joke that soon the minimum will be to pitch a fence in your backyard and let the hamster burrow. It's not quite a dad joke, more like a cr ap mom joke ;)

I have heard some unusual things about Ontario Hamster Club before. Things that they said are ok for hamsters that I personally disagree with. I think any club or organization should be taken with a grain or three of salt.
