So last June, we found a hamster in the playground across the street from our house. A few minutes before that, we were outside in that same playground because it was really nice out. Then we had lunch after that at our house. While we were eating, my brother saw a little white animal walking around the wire fence around it. He was in front of the mailboxes sniffing around, and was pretty close to the street.
My dad went out to see what it was. My mom stayed in the front yard to see if he needed anything. My dad picked him up and started bringing him across the street. The hamster was friendly, but still was a little squirmy. At the time, we just got back from a camping trip, and I was just finishing cleaning the travel cage. My mom called to me to bring down the cage so we could put the hamster in. We all looked at him. I cut the end off a square box to make a hide. I put some hamster food in a glass bowl, gave him water, and snuck in a few handfuls of bedding, trying not to scare him. I also got a few spare toys I had. The cage had a wheel in it already.
I already had a hamster named Butterscotch, and my brother wanted a hamster. He decided to take care of it, if we couldn't find the owner. I went to make two signs telling about the lost hamster, while my mom posted this on Facebook. The sign said,
Lost Hamster
We found a little white hamster in the playground. He has short hair and black tipped ears. If he is yours, call, (my dads phone number)
My brother named the hamster Pebbles, and we still have him now. After putting up the signs, I was watching Pebbles, and he had emptied all the nature he collected in a corner, and fell asleep in the hide.
After a few days the signs blew away and nobody answered to the post or signs, so we kept him. And when I was cleaning the cage, I found a safeway receipt. (not ours)
I forgot to include this, but once we knew we were gonna keep him, we got him a proper cage.
Just so you know, the reason why it says I have one syrian, is because Butterscotch died in July, one month after his birthday. I have a new hamster Chestnut, and you can see her in hamster of the month contest. I will post more pictures of her soon.
