so i recently acquired a cuban tree frog, and i can't find much info on their care. i'm going to get a 29 gallon tank tomorrow, and i have eco earth to use as substrate, along with a 1.5 liter glass loaf pan to use for water. is there a better substrate i could use? i plan to get repashy calcium plus for dusting the food (have wax worms rn, i'll probably grab some crickets tomorrow). i also plan to get a branch of grapevine wood. are those plastic vine things with the leaves good for decor? and how many hides should i get? i'm getting some seet moss for decoration. and how about the flexible jungle vine things for climbing? are those safe? and i'm gonna get a temperature/humidity gauge, i've heard 60-90% humidity and 78-88 degrees is good. i'm also thinking maybe i'll try making it bioactive in the future, so is there anything special i'd need for that?

oh also! the frog needs a name! i have a plant theme rn, so some uncommon plant name suggestions would be nice. currently they go by all pronouns because i have no idea how to sex a frog and we stan a genderfluid Queen

Some topsoil mixed with peat/sphagnum moss, coco fiber, sand, and clay would be great but it's fine if they only have coco earth. I've noticed they don't spend much time in the ground anyways but a nice mossy aerated substrate can help keep up with humidity. Also leaf litter! Oak leaves are fine :)

went out and bought some stuff for him, including a 29 gallon tank. he's been so active in there already <3
i'm gonna let the block of eco earth sit and absorb water while i'm at work and break it up once i get home
and i have an 18 inch grapevine wood on the way. i'll order a temperature gauge and vines and stuff from amazon and try to find a pothos plant at the farmer's market tomorrow, and if i can't find it there i'll check lowes :)
oh and i got some mealworms from petco, so he has some variety. they didn't have crickets atm.

okay so i have an update to the cage already :)

i went to the plant shop after work and the girl was super nice and helped me find a plant similar to pothos that'd be safe for Basil (they were out of pothos), so i ended up with a philodendron, which i guess is related to pothos and has basically the same needs. so i cleaned it really well with vinegar and got the old soil off and planted it in the cage.
