Hamster Hideout has a few gerbil owners now so I thought I'd start a new HH Gerbil Club (HHGC). Open to gerbil owners or just anyone who loves gerbils. Here you can tell us all about your gerbils, discuss why gerbils are amazing and post all your cute gerbil photos.

- I currently have two gerbils, Lily and Daisy
- I like gerbils because they are always on the go, they are friendly and outgoing, and enthusiastic about everything

- I've got two gerbils, Zym and Dino

- I like gerbils because they always seem to be doing something! They're so busy and put so much care into their little burrows. And they're extremely talented chewers! Zym and Dino chewed up a whole toilet paper roll on the car ride home today in 15 minutes. Also, I love it when they wink.

- 3 months old

- Personality: I don't know much about his personality yet-- he only moved in today! My brother swears he's shier than Dino. Zym has created a little house from himself out of a cork log, one side of which he covered in bedding and dug a burrow for easy access. The other side is open and faces the treat bowl. Clever choice.

- Favourite food: Not sure, but he seemed to like the Nature's Salad herbs I put in the treat bowl.

- Colour (if known): Lilac with black eyes. I love how the tips of his ears are dark gray, and so is his tail. Like a little Siamese cat.

- Dino

- Male

- 3 months old

- Personality: I don't know him too well yet either, but my brother claims he's outgoing. He is a very talented digger and bedding flinger. He likes the burrow he made with Zym by the wheel (which is the reason the wheel's always covered in bedding, they kick it out as they dig-- I need a solution!) and he's also dug a few tunnels below the sand bath.

- Favourite food: Not sure yet either. I did spot Dino eating a nut while sitting on the wheel. That's for exercise, not snacking, silly.

- Colour: Tan with the prettiest red eyes.

Funny you should mention Siamese cats as there are Siamese gerbils (named after the cats) although I don't think Zym is one. He is probably a colourpoint of some kind though, potentially pied colourpoint agouti. There are also Burmese gerbils, named after Burmese cats. Dino is likely a pied argente.

I actually find gerbils to be more practical and cuter than hamsters, even though I do own a hamster.
