I adopted a pair of little gerbil brothers today from our local SPCA! They are 3 months old. The lilac one with black eyes is Zym, and the tan one with red eyes is Dino. I put some toilet paper rolls in their carrier on the way home and they chewed them down to nubs haha.

Dino's already dug a burrow and hid his chew toy there, they both enjoy the sand, and Zym is always zooming up and down the bridges! I hope they like their new home and get settled in. I haven't seen them use the wheel yet, Dino keeps kicking bedding onto it as he digs lol. I also ordered a water bottle because I can tell they'll knock the bowl over sooner or later  I love them already!

Here they are in the car:

And here they are checking out their new home!

It's not easy getting good pictures, they are so quick haha

Awww they are so cute!
I currently only have a elderly female gerbil named Mahogany, your baby boys are precious!
I definitely would have a water bottle for gerbils, some older ones can have a bowl as they slow down but it is a safe bet to just stick with the bottle :)

Congrats on adopting them, they’re adorable!
Our boys, Nuke & Bullet also never stay still long enough for photos as well. They’re such speed, destructive little things lol

Aww! Is that Nuke and Bullet in the top right corner of your profile picture, Sarah? They're so cute! Fitting names for little lively gerbils!

And yeah, Lil Mushroom, they did indeed knock their water bowl over and I had to remove the wet bedding-- thankfully it was on a platform, so it was only a little that spilled on the bedding. We had to go on an emergency water bottle hunt. Walmart's pet section didn't have any, and Petco just had ones for wire cages, so we ended up getting a Wet-Your-Whistle which... well, I can't describe it, but here it is: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/everyyay-small-animal-wet-your-whistle-small-animal-ceramic-waterer. It's pretty sturdy, although they have kicked some bedding in it, which is such a gerbil thing to do    Still waiting for that water bottle to arrive!

Today they busied themselves making tunnels. Looooots of tunnels. The paper bedding, which was originally under the aspen, is all kicked up to the top now! You can even see their burrows through the glass in some spots. Their bendy bridges are all underground, but I suppose that's how they like it. I may get a divider or cage topper so that I can separate the wheel and water from the rest of the bedding. For now I'm glad they're so busy digging-- they didn't have much bedding at the shelter, so they must be having a ball!

I'm currently feeding them Higgins VitaGarden, but it's not super nutritious so I'm ordering Robin's gerbil mix as soon as her shop opens again after the holidays. I haven't heard a lot about her gerbil mix, but judging from the quality of her hamster mixes, I trust Robin to have created a great food. What do you all feed your gerbils? I need some tips! I tried giving them spinach as a snack, but they nibbled at it and ignored it haha. Too bitter, I guess!
