Chapter 4
Bored! Bored! Bored! There was nothing to do in this tiny cage, except sit around and jump at the walls of the tank.
Suddenly, a hand reached in and grabbed Lemon and me. It held us so tightly that we could not move.
“Would you like these hamsters?” A pet store worker asked a young girl and her mom.
“Yes, but I think she was also looking at that small white colored one.” The girl’s mom said, pointing at Bear.
“Ok, so you would like these three?” The pet store worker asked.
“Yes” The mom and girl replied, at the same time.
“Alright, so I see you have a nice large cage, high quality food, and even a five inch wheel!” The pet store worker happily replied.
Large-?high quality-?five inches-? I thought.
“Ugh, when will they ever learn?!” I asked Bear.
Just as Bear was about to speak, Lemon interrupted saying, “Probably never!”
The next day
“Ok, you guys have been home for a day! It’s time to play in your excercise balls! Look, I got one for each of you!!” The girl excitedly whispered.
“Natalie, I hope you aren’t touching those hamsters!” The girl-Natalie’s-Mom yelled from the kitchen.
“Well why can’t I put them in their exercise balls?!” Natalie replied.
“Um, sure honey, but not for more than 30 minutes!” Natalie’s mom yelled.
“Okay mom!” Natalie sweetly replied.
“C’mon guys! Let’s play!” Natalie whispered.
“Ugh, not those horrendous balls of torture I thought.
2 Hours Later
“Mom, they’re tamed. Now can I take them outside to the park?” Natalie asked.
“Sure honey! Be back in twenty minutes!” Natalie’s mom replied.
“Okay mom!” Natalie answered.
Oh no, I thought. To the park?! In the blazing hot July sun? With kids playing? In excercise balls?
At the park, there were two slides, a set of “monkey bars”, a tunnel, and a “sandbox”.
“Look Amy! Look Maddie! I have hamsters!!!” Natalie bragged to her friends.
“No fair! I want one!” Amy unhappily yelled.
“I’ve got one! But it doesn’t have a cool ball. I’m going to go get mine!” Maddie happily screeched.
“Ok, but be quick! I’ve gotta be back home by five!” Natalie yelled as Maddie ran out of the park.
Within five minutes, Maddie was back. She had an ugly, longhaired male Syrian hamster in her hands.
“I had to wake him up but he’s here!” Maddie proudly told her friends.
“Aw, he’s cute!” Amy said.
“Mine are cuter.” Natalie replied.
“No” Maddie said.
“Yes!” Natalie replied.
“Put them together! Let’s see!” Amy said.
Natalie took Bear, Lemon, and I out of our balls, right next to the Syrian hamster.
“Hi!” I squeaked, and moved myself so that I was between Bear and Lemon.
“This is my territory and nobody gets near me!” The Syrian yelled.
And that’s when the real fight began.
Hope you guys enjoy-and sorry to leave you on a cliff hanger.
