Hey guys!

Here’s a quick update on how they’ve been doing: I think Tinkerbell likes Ferdinand WAY a more than he likes her, it’s kinda funny how when I open the door so they can free roam Ferdinand runs out…

My two bonded bunnies,  Ferdinand and Tinkerbell live in this room. They are free-ranged in the house when I’m home and yes, this is a Christmas theme lol (I still needa get some more decorations tho!). I would love some constructive criticism on the bun room!

https://ibb.co/KVc6Whm

They have two hides, some hay toys, two blankets (one is in a hide), a bed, sand dish (which they LOVE), rainbow bridge, and large litter box with Timothy hay and Aspen/Kaytee c&c.

Also, idk if it’s just me but the bunnies never seem like they are getting enough food. I give them about 4
cups of salad (romaine lettuce+cilantro) a day and pellets in the evening (I don’t think the pellets are necessary but they enjoy the pellets so….). Or are bunnies always like that?
Tysm!!!

My guinea pigs do that, even though my mom probably overfeeds them (one is like 2 pounds lol) they are always hungry, so not sure about bunnies but with every guinea pig I’ve owned it’s been like that if that helps!

The vast majority of a rabbit’s diet should be hay, so as long as they seem interested in eating that they should be getting plenty to eat. If they aren’t sometimes swapping to a different brand can do the trick. :)

If you’re able to I’d also try and feed more varied salads! Rabbits love all kinds of greens like green beans, spinach, parsley, apples, endive, bell pepper…the list is really endless! This will make it easy to swap off pellets if you want to eventually do so—you can’t go off pellets without feeding a varied fresh food component.

Regarding the setup, I love the space that they get. :)

Currently in the rabbit community, sand is very controversial and personally, I deem it unsafe as rabbits tend to ingest a lot of things that are in their environment as well as it is too fine for their noses.

As you have two rabbits, I recommend having a second litter box, especially after the intial bonding stage. Rabbits often get very territorial over their litter boxes and adding a second litter box that is away from the main one can give them the space to run away from the other if needed. The second one doesn't need to be as big, but since both of them are well over 5 pounds I'd say minimum 30" by 15". I'd also suggest a lot more hay in their litter box so they can dig in it as well.

Another thing I notice is that you have the tape/stickers and ink on the cardboard boxes still. It's still not 100% confirmed that Amazon uses a safe type of ink, so I would suggest to just rip the outer layer of cardboard off where there's ink, and also to remove the tape from the boxes to prevent blockages.

About their diet, as long as they're eating enough hay, it's fine for them to act hungry all the time because that's genuinely how rabbits are. :)

4 cups of veggies a day is good, but I recommend more variety: think kale, parsely, mint, basil, dill, red leaf lettuce, spring mix, etc. Generally a rabbit should get at least 3 types of veggies a day.

I know you're on ROF as well so if you're looking for further advice I suggest you post there too! :)

Hopefully this could help! :)

Just click on "housing and environment" and in the top right there's a make new post button :)

Have you considered growing your own veggies? Mint is a really easy vegetable to grow and it grows super quick!
