Lucky!!!!

I've been wanting one but honestly I don't think I'll be allowed T^T

I like car names lol, that's because Odyssey was named after a car (honda odyssey) and her sister was too (honda clarity) and I had the name elantra (hyundai elantra) planned out for the betta...but then I wasn't able to get one ;-;

It depends on the colouring for your list...if they're a red/pink/orange Lily is nice, Winter would be cool if they're white. Saber is cool for all colours tho!

I really like Iris because it's the Greek Rainbow Goddess, so it'd work for any coloring :D

Yay! I'm so happy for you! :D

May I ask why a female, I've only ever owned males, is there difference between them? :)

I must see a photo first (I'm awful at naming fish) my last bettas were called Chili, Pepper, and Rainbow. I like Iris though!

Also quick question; does anyone have any stocking ideas for my spare 5 gallon?

Um, females tend to have way more personality than males, and IMHO I think they're prettier :)

Betta tank, snail tank, shrimp tank, guppy tank, any thing ok in a nano tank, pretty much.

I can do the copy/pasta later when I'm on my laptop and it's easier, but just wanna let you guys know I know waaaaay more about fish than hamsters and you can always PM me any questions. In particular, I can help a lot with things such as diagnosing illnesses, causes for algae, correcting issues with parameters, and plant care. Though you can ask me anything about freshwater tanks in general and I can likely either give an answer or at least direct you towards where to find answers :).

Betta, shrimp, snail, or you can just do a plant tank- those are super cool!

Personally I don't think it's large enough for any others: guppies could work but it'd be a very tight squeeze and hard to maintain because of the bioload. Generally I'd say at least a 15gal for guppies (which should be kept in groups of ~5 same sex)

Guppies can actually be kept alone, or and livebearer :)

Bioload won't build up as much if you do water changes every 3 days, and only have less than 4 males, so they don't breed :D

I'd have to disagree- it's best to keep them in groups with others whether it be other livebearers or other guppies. I know they aren't schooling fish but they do tend to stick to groups in the wild therefore I believe they are a social fish which do best with others. :)

Regarding bioload, I do find tanks that are 5 gal and under quite hard to maintain with even just one fish because of how prone to spikes it is because of the unstableness, so personally I wouldn't put more than one fish in a tank that size but I respect your opinion :)

I'd have to disagree, lol

Guppies in the wild tend to live in tiny bodies of water where the jump from "puddle" too "puddle", weather that's alone or together.

There is no rule agenst keeping them alone.

And for the stalking, it all comes down to the tank dimensions.

Some 5 gallon tanks can be the same size, exept for height or width, therefore they can have the same fish unless they like height or width in their tanks.

a lot of experts will say that guppies can do well in as little a 3 gallon tanks if they have enough length.

Sorry if that sounds rude :)
