You're definitely right in the 120gal part! A 4'2'2' is the minimum for any adult bearded dragon.

Though I'm a bit confused on your "they need wood or mesh enclosures"? Bearded dragons can definitely be kept in tanks (as long as there is ventilation ofc, as with any animal), though wood cages can work as well. And I'm not sure what a "mesh enclosure" is? Really the cage can be made out of any non-toxic thing secure enough so they don't escape, that has ventilation, and holds in heat & humidity to the right amount.

To the OP, I think people gave some great suggestions above so I don't have much to add. But if I may ask, why don't your parents like the idea of lizards? What specifically about them puts your parents off >.>

:D

they have really bad eyesight and tend to rub there noses ageinst the glass. 'Mesh' as in, a screen diy kind of cage.

Not all beardies will do that, usually it's only done when they're stressed, in a too small enclosure, looking for attention, trying to get somewhere, or when they're shedding. Not because they have bad eyesight. Having part of your cage be glass usually isn't a problem at all. And if your beardie is rubbing their nose on the glass, they might do the same if they had a mesh enclosure, and mesh would be way worse to rub their nose against. Most people tend to cover 2-3 sides with some type of background in an enclosure. Having transparent sides could stress out a beardie. Which is why backdrops exist for enclosures that are glass or see-through. I've personally never had an issue with nose-rubbing while owning my beardie, nor have I seen it being a very common issues of other breaded dragon owners who give these animals a good life. And overall a screened enclosure (which I'm assuming you're meaning to look like the pic below) is not a great option for beardies, especially considering the factor of holding in heat and whatnot.

They think they are disgusting creatures and only want to bite and be aggressive. My mom had one when she was a kid and they had rescued it from a family that couldn’t care for it anymore. It wasn’t very friendly towards her or anyone and as she didn’t have a large cage it got really gross fast. So it’s from her not having a good experience that they think that.

not beardies

many keep them in 40 gallons, but it's just not big enough for something that gets over 12''. they need wood or mesh enclosers equivlent to 120 gallons at least to be happy.

Thank you, but Phosphorous already said that :)
