Thud

I hit myself on the bottom of the bin. Fortunately I had fallen into an old pan of burnt rice, it acted as a pillow for my body. 

Then there was the angry sound of the bin lid crashing down and shouts of fury and an argument heating up. 

I just lay there, not bothered to move. 

I hated life.

Nothing good had ever happened.

Would I ever make it to adulthood?

I just wanted to die

Chapter 5

Scratch scratch scratch

That was all I heard.

There was scuttling now.

What was it?

I saw the bin lid being lifted, light was shining down on me. 

It was overpowering.

I dug deeper into the bin.

Until I heard a voice.

I stopped in my tracks, frozen and unable to move.

There was a huge hamster staring at me, it climbed down on a rope.

I heard voices and scuttling.

Or maybe I was going mad, maybe I was dying. Maybe this was just a dream, a nightmare.

But no. 

It was real.

“Hallo.” said a friendly voice as if we already knew each other

I spun around ready to run, I couldn’t believe my eyes. This was the hamster I had seen in the pet shop before I was taken!

“I’m Lightning,” said the hamster introducing itself “And you?”

“I-I-I’m T-t-tater tot,” I replied trembling

Okay! I rewrote some of the other chapters as well, enjoy!

Chapter 1
Here I am huddled up with my siblings under this hot steamy igloo that we call ‘home’. I finally got up, only to smell the strong scent of pine. “Achoo!” I sneezed.
“Aww Mommy look, a hamster,” said a young girl who couldn’t be older than about 6 or 7.
“Now dear I think we’ve got enough to look after right now,” said her mother hastily.
“Mommy, don’t be so horrible!” shouted the angry girl. “Get me a hamster NOW!”
“Now dear I don’t think being so rude is going to get you anywhere” her mother shook her head to say ‘no’.
“GET ME A HAMSTER!” screamed the girl. “Or I’ll do it myself.” she pulled at her mother's purse.
“Oh okay, just stop screaming,” said her mother. “I’ll go and get the pet shop man.”
The little girl grinned and showed her sparkling shoes and did a twirl to show off the other girls who eyed her with a look of envy in their eyes. Meanwhile, her mother fetched the pet storeman, who pulled the igloo up, grabbed me and my siblings, each in turn, and showed us to the girl and her mother.
“Aww, Mommy I want that one because it’s a girl like me,” said the girl
Her mother who seemed very distressed at the prospect of telling her husband about the new ‘family member’, replied "Yes dear, okay.”
Then turning to the man she said “Can we take her?" she said pointing at me.
The next few moments were a blur. I remember the girl choosing the pink critter trail cage, pink carefresh, oxbow pellets, a fancy pink water bottle, and an igloo (which was of course pink). Then I felt something grab me. I looked up to see the biggest hamster ever.

Chapter 2
Where that hamster went I did not know, though I do know that as soon as the ‘pet shop man’ came I darted into the igloo and the hamster had disappeared. Shaken with fright I was in the grasp of a young man who shoved me into a cardboard box with my old bedding.
“Give her to me Mommy, she’s mine,” said the nasty girl who violently shook my carrier and said,
“You’re coming with me DUMMY!” At that moment I had no idea what she meant, but I knew she had bad intentions from the tone of her voice.
I felt myself shaking and I heard a sound and a gust of air. I saw someone's face glaring down at me.
“Come on out idiot,” she said in a nasty voice.
Then she grabbed me in a tight grasp.
“Honey, I hope you’re not taking her out, the man said she needs to stay in there in the carrier,” said her mum.
“Whatever, she’s mine you have no power over her.” snarled the horrid girl
Her mother was quiet.
Then she piped up “Then you’ll pay for her and if you don’t I’ll throw it in the bin” screamed her mother
“ I DON’T CARE,” screamed the girl, “DO AS I SAY OR ELSE.”
I’d never been more scared in my life.

Chapter 3
All I remember was being shoved into the tiny pink crittertrail where I lay on the lumpy rough carefresh which hadn’t been separated, nor was there enough to cover the whole floor. Ooer the pain I was in, I had sprained my ankle and my head was sore. I screamed in pain.
“Aww mommy he’s squeaking” cooed the little girl.
HE, HE I’M A GIRL FOR GOODNESS SAKE! I felt like saying.
But at this point, there was a serious argument going on.
“A hamster.” bellowed the man.
“Yes dearie,” said the girl’s mother trembling.
“To keep” inquired the man.
“Um, yes,” said the mother still trembling and stuttering.
“For how long” questioned the man as if he was interrogating a criminal rather than his wife.
“For its whole life!” blurted out the woman. “Anywhere between 1-3 or sometimes four years, it varies a lot.” added the woman.
“Humph, we shall see about that,” he said walking towards the cage and opening the bin.
“NOOOOO, STOP what you are doing" cried the woman
“I never agreed to this,” he added grimly seizing my sore leg and walking towards the bin.
I was terrified.
The woman was horrified.
And the girl just sat there.
Then I felt myself drop.

Chapter 4
Thud
I hit myself on the bottom of the bin. Fortunately, I had fallen into an old pan of burnt rice, it acted as a pillow for my body.
Then there was the angry sound of the bin lid crashing down and shouts of fury and an argument heating up.
I just lay there, not bothered to move.
I hated life.
Nothing good had ever happened.
Would I ever make it to adulthood?
I just wanted to die.

Chapter 5
Scratch scratch scratch.
That was all I heard.
There was scuttling now.
What was it?
I saw the bin lid being lifted, light was shining down on me.
It was overpowering.
I dug deeper into the bin.
Until I heard a voice.
I stopped in my tracks, frozen and unable to move.
A huge hamster was staring at me. It climbed down on a rope.
I heard voices and scuttling.
Or maybe I was going mad, maybe I was dying. Maybe this was just a dream, a nightmare.
But no.
It was real.
“Hallo.” said a friendly voice as if we already knew each other
I spun around ready to run. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This was the hamster I had seen in the pet shop before I was taken!
“I’m Lightning,” said the hamster introducing its self “And you?”
“I-I-I’m T-t-tater tot,” I replied trembling
“Do not be afraid,” said the kind voice “we are here to help you.”
“Do you want to come?”
No, I wasn’t going to go no one was going to make me leave. I’m not going to trust her. This was surely a death trap.

Chapter 6
“No!” I shouted back. “I’m not coming with you!”
Lightning looked grimly at the others and nodded.
She grabbed her customized hamster satchel and reached over with her enormous hands. And she stuffed me into the bag! Just like that.
I was too scared and shocked to even do anything. I just lay there and let myself be carried away in the bag that rocked back and forth and back and forth and back and…
I released I must have been asleep, because the next thing I knew, there was a lot of noise and talking, in what seemed to be a sort of burrow, sort of like a rabbit warren. I was terrified. Where was I? What were they going to do with me? And how was I going to get back home? What even was home?
As Lightning unbuckled the bag, I gathered up all my courage and took a deep breath.
“Uhm, Lightning, where am I?” I asked.
“We’re in a burrow,” she replied, “A hamster's natural environment” she continued.
“And where are we going?” I asked, still frightened.
“You can come out now, there’s no reason to be scared.” was her reply.
“I’ll explain, this building, or rather burrow is part of the of The National Hamster Secret Service. We offer refuge to poorly treated hamsters and work secretly sending spies to help our kind. As soon as we heard about you-.
“How did you hear about me?" asked Tater Tot rather alarmed.
“That doesn’t matter,” she replied hastily changing the subject, “Anyway, as I was saying, we have lots of room here, it’s very advaced and we even have electricity!”
“How old are you?” she asked suddenly.
“Uh, I think I’m about three months old.” I replied.
She smiled. “Then you should go and stay with Athena” she said, “You won’t get lost, I trust you to go on your own, it is a simple case of walking down this passage until you see the number 37, just knock on the door and say Lightning told you to come and she’ll understand.”
“Okay…” I replied, still tentative “What should I do if anyone stops me?” she added.
“If anyone should stop you,” she said slowly, “They’ll ask you the password.”
“What is the password?” I asked.
“Sunflower Seeds,” replied Lightning smiling.
