Hello,
So i have been not sure what to do about this for a while now, and i need to hear some opinions from other bird owners.
As some may know, my brother and i share two male budgies, Blue and Sprite. We got them from a local rescue and give them the love and care that all budgies deserve. They live in a large flight cage https://www.amazon.com/Great-Companions-Large-Bird-Cage/dp/B00176F5L0?th=1(size large) and after finding elleandthebirds on youtube we have really improved their care.
M cousin impulse bought a budgie when she was little, and quickly lost interest and gave the bird to my grandparents. This bird named Buiscuit is living in a WAYYYY to small cage and is NEVER let out. He looks very stressed. he only has dowel perches and some mirrors which have made him extremely hormonal, and whenever i come over they are all dirty. I feel really bad for him. He used to be on an all seed diet, but finally my cousin switched him onto a pellet diet. He gets no veggies.
I would love to take him in, but my grandfather is old and seems very lonely because my grandma goes away in the summer and he stays at home all by himself. he would never say this, but i think he actually really enjoys biscuits company. My mom also feels bad for him, but she thinks it is more important that my grandpa has his company. I have tried talking to them about budgie care in a very inaccusatory way AKA showing them Blue and Sprites cage and setup and diet and all that stuff, but they seem to think that I am being annoying. They also will never let him out because they are too scared, and budgies should be let out for at least 2 hours a day.
I dont know what to do. Any advice?
