Ok, my ways for hamsters loving toys:

Mix a small mixture of half and half of water and flour. (Buck wheat is healthy-er)

Dip the toy in it,

Then, cover it in seeds, or its daily mix.

Only give them it once every two weeks. The sent will last a while to them.

Spread a very thin layer of peanut butter. Place some on, and try to scrape it all off. the smell of the nut butter will still be there!

It really depends on the hamster with this one, but...

my hamster likes long things to chew on. Like, mini sticks. Or, his wooden banana.

Try out diffrent chews!

Wooden, temporary Wimsee's, and lots more!

Some hamster preffer other toys over others. even if they are exactly the same thing lol.

Hoped this helped!

P.S, To some in the comments, they said salt licks aren't safe. Thanks!

Thanks! Super helpful  :bread:  Shouldn't hamsters not have salt licks since they've already got all the nutrients they need from their food though?

Yeah I don’t think salt licks are a good idea. They do not need extra sodium

Yep, salt licks aren't the best idea from what I've heard on past topics ( I'll try to link a few topics if I can find them later ).

Edit: Robin~ puts it well here, I also found this topic.

Also I'd like to add that for some hamsters chews aren't a *need* and there's no need to stress about them not chewing their chews. Most likely, they'll be able to get teeth cutting-down from their regular food. I usually put them in the cage anyways just for fun. I've found that my hamster used to like those mini branch chews so that's what I often bought, I tried a ton different ones but he completely ignored the existence of them, so, yep.

Ok, my ways for hamsters loving toys:

I will note that it is not necessary for a hamster to chew on their toys, but giving them something specifically for them to chew on is still nice.

Mix a small mixture of half and half of water and flour. (Buck wheat is healthy-er)

Dip the toy in it, or use a spoon to smear the mix on whatever you’re decorating with seed mix,

Then, cover it in seeds, or its daily mix.

Only give them it once every two weeks. The scent will last a while to them.

I do this a lot, and Sahara loves it! Sometimes, I do this to homemade hideouts, too.

Spread a very thin layer of peanut butter. Place some on, and try to scrape it all off. the smell of the nut butter will still be there!

I did this with my past hamster… she didn’t care at all about a peanut butter scent after licking it and finding there was no peanut butter, but all hamsters are different.

It really depends on the hamster with this one, but...

my hamster likes long things to chew on. Like, mini sticks. Or, his wooden banana.

Personally, my hamsters have never really chewed on items that aren’t motivating them to do so. My friend’s mouse, on the other hand, will chew absolutely whatever. All animals are different!

Try out diffrent chews!

Wooden, temporary Wimsee's, and lots more!

I think that having a whimzee chew in full-time is safe for the hamster, but we all have different views.

Some hamster preffer other toys over others. even if they are exactly the same thing lol.

Exactly!

Thank you for writing this! I’m sure it’ll be helpful to many people and their pets.
