Sorry to post this on a hamster forum, but I have yet to find an active rat forum.

I found someone on Craigslist whose moving, and need to rehome there rats-its two unfixed males, and one spayed female. According to them they all get along well and are super sweet. Does anyone have any thoughts on keeping them like this? Like, would it be better to have nuetered males? Are there any specific risks in this situation? Thanks :)

In terms of preventing reproduction that would be fine. Probably would have opted for neutering the males if I were the owner since the procedure tends to be much less invasive but in any case the female cannot have the egg be fertilized for one reason or another depending on how the procedure was done, so you’re set to keep them together. I would potentially ask for medical papers stating the procedure happened, though, just to play it safe.

Or perhaps you’re thinking of it like mice? Rats are totally different and are 100% fine to keep in groups regardless of sex.

Overall, no, there aren’t any risks provide the female is indeed spayed.

(...I would think, at least. Maybe there’d be some drama over the males fighting over the female but if they get along fine I suppose this isn’t an issue.)

I have heard of breeders doing this so I guess it's a feasible arrangement. You would need to make sure the males aren't harassing the females (as their hormones are obviously intact) and that the presence of a female isn't causing aggression. You would probably need to be prepared to neuter both the males if necessary.
