Hi! I’m a big plant lover, I love taking care of them, and I love watching them grow but I’ve found it very difficult to keep them away from my rabbit. She hasn’t eaten any toxic ones, but she has destroyed a few. She can jump onto my desk, and the only place I’ve found to put them is on top of my hamsters cage, but it’s not a sustainable solution since they don’t get enough light there. I was wondering if any other plant lovers had any tips for reducing destructive behaviors in rabbits, or keeping plants away from them, but still having the plants in plain sight? Thanks!

Hello and welcome, I'm Ally!
We used to keep our plants at one end of the kitchen table that was near the back door to get enough sunlight. Thing is, my rabbit's pen is at that same end of the table near the door, so soon enough she learned how to jump from on top of her hidey onto the table....and ate all the basil!!!
Now we've moved it to the living room, near a window, and since she's not allowed in that certain part of the living room (we put a c&c grid gate around it since it's our house computer area) it works out fine.
It seems like your rabbit is free roam? If so, the best solutions I can find is either to block her access to a room where you can put them (for example, don't let her into a bedroom and put them there) or to get plant shelves. There's two types of plant shelves- floating ones which can be attached onto the wall and can hold plant pots, or the ones that look like normal shelves and you can put it on the higher ones so she can't jump to them. You can also put them outside during the day, and bring them back inside for the night while she's sleeping.
I hope this helped! ![]()
