hi (: i go two parrotlets for my b day last year (: they used bite, a LOT, (they sill do, there tritorial, so they bite when ever you put you hand on there cage) for the first 4 or 5 months, they dident let anyone near them, but then i bought them a bigger cage ( one that meets the minmum, not an old, cheap, hand-me-down one) and they got a bit nicer. they are mostly trained, like they know step-up (but they dont like hands) one knows how to skateboard (lol), they still wont let anyone pet them. i think there females, there green rumped, and they dont have the really light green tummy. idk there age or there gender (like i said, there probly female) i felt really bad for them, bc the man at the pet store said they were there for two (human) years (probly around 6+ parrotlet years) thats why i got them. there was a fancy parrakeet at the petstore, too, a man was being a HUGE jerk and bought the 4 males and left the female all alone (sexist), she was teriffided(i might acctully go back and get her (: like if she is still there)
there names are kiwi and avocado, they are on my sholder right now. i love them soooo much, and im glad about how far they have come, imagen if they were still at the pet store, or went home with a 6 year old? im no master at taming animals, just a 12 year old girl thats glad she gave her parrotlets a good, happy life
thank for reading
(edit: for anyone who dident know, parrotlets re the smallest parrot, but they look more like counres than parrots, i think parrotlet means "little parrot" or "parrot little"
They sound awesome
Are they Pacific Parrotlets? Some people in the US call what *I'd* call a budgerigar a parrotlet. Either way they are easy to sex. Do you have a photo?
If' they're Pacifics, males will have blue "eyeshadow" and blue under their wings. If they don't have these blue feathers, they are female. If they're budgerigars, males have a blue cere (nose part over their beak) while females have pink.
