Hello!
Are there any small pets who will happily sit on your lap for a cuddle?
Unfortunately our family cannot have a cat or dog because of allergies, so we were wondering if any small pets had the same qualities.
Thanks!

Rabbits won't like being held off the ground, but if it's voluntary they'll happily sit on your lap for a nice petting. Odyssey will demand to be pet from time to time by shoving her head under my hand, and she lovessss attention ![]()

I feel like it depends a lot on the individual-I have a friend with a rabbit from a breeder who'll cuddle with you, but another who got it from a rescue who is CONSTANTLY running. I think rats may be a good option for you as some can be cuddly-maybe show you're fam some videos like this?
And it also depends on your definition of cuddly. If you're okay with an animal that will sit in your hand or lap, but not neccesarily cuddle with you but is chill with handling, a blue tongued skink may be a good choice ![]()

Maybe a rabbit, guinea pig, or lizard? Idk, I'd say the cuddliness depends on the individual animal. (For example, I had a rat a while ago that would never stay still, and was always moving and trying to climb on you, and was just not a very cuddly sit-in-your-lap type of pet, but other ppl have had the opposite experience...)

Some reptiles can be good for handling, I would say more so than other smaller mammals. However like anything it depends on the individual as well. But pls pls pls do your research beforehand ofc (like any animal). I know a few great resources if you have a specific reptile in mind so feel free to PM me if you want them~

I don't have any personal experience with rats, but everyone I know who has kept them has said how friendly and sociable they are, so you might like to consider them.

I just want to add that Rabbits, GP's, and Rats all need to be kept in pairs or groups except for rare circumstances where they're not sociable individuals ![]()

I'd suggest guinea pigs, or male rats. It is possible to be allergic to both, or to the hay guinea pigs REQUIRE, so you should test that before getting one. Although it could potentially be less of an issue since they can be confined to one part of the home, unlike a dog or cat.

My chinchilla will jump on my lap and sit at will eating oats or a raisin sometimes.
My guinea pigs don’t let being picked up but love being held will sit still eating pea flakes or fresh veggies.
My dog is huge a husky strong boy but acts like he’s a lap dog, thinks he’s a toy breed or something! My legs will become numb after a whole movie where he crushes them!!
Awwwww! That’s adorable! Thank you!

Hamsters are crazy about cuddles. They love to have attention on them. Btw, they are very playful, so you’ll never feel bored with them. I have an allergy too. Tbh, I’ve never thought it could be a problem, but one day I realized it can. One of my close relatives passed away on that day. My wife decided to find an emotional support animal for me. She found me a horse on https://www.esaregistration.org/emotional-support-animal-guide/. And that’s how a horse named Nancy helped me recover. You know, I’ve never met such a friendly animal. While psychologists said it would take me 2 years to recover, Nancy made it real in less than a year. I was so grateful to her. Indeed, animals are our best friends. Only they can watch at you like they’re seeing your soul. So, if you’re living in the countryside, buy a horse. I promise your life will change for good immediately.
