Hi!

I was looking at guinea pig fleeces, and they seem to be quite expensive. Could I use a bathroom mat like this:

After all, Little Adventures was using something similar

Hello!

I can’t comment on the bathroom mats, but I just wanted to point out DIYing your own fleece bedding actually isn’t too hard! All you’ll need is some towels you don’t mind getting peed on and some fleece from your local craft shop. Put the towels on the bottom to absorb the urine and place the fleece on top to ensure your piggies aren’t walking on their urine all the time. The fleece will let the urine pass through it, something known as “wicking”. Some fleece won’t wick right away though and will need to be washed in a water-only run through your washing machine. This can also happen later on if too much detergent gets stuck in the fleece—the same solution can be applied.
If you want to sew the two together you can also do that but I’ve used the latter whenever I petsit and it’s not too bad at all to be honest. I can link a tutorial though if you’d like! :)

I don't think they'd be a good choice unless your piggies are fully litter trained. They'd be hard to fully wash and get the urine out.

What you can do though is what Robin said. Simply sew a towel under a fleece blanket like so. (blue is fleece, black is towel)

Or, you can litter-train them which is very easy! Then you can use those bath mats.

Another option is using those bath mats and cover it with fleece.

Another option is fleece ontop of pee pads.

I’ve used the bath mats underneath fleece pads, excellent combination IMO.

Hi!

Thank you for all of your suggestions ❤ They were very helpful!

I think I plan to use robin and ajuniceuhamsters methods of sandwiching a towel in between fleece!

Thanks again
