My first hamster, Peaches, I got when I was 9, and I didn’t do enough research at all, to be fair, I was younger, so I didn’t really have access to HHF, and YouTube, but I still could’ve done a lot better, she lived in a 10 or 20 gallon tank (I can’t remember exactly) with 1 inch of bedding, an igloo, and an 8” wheel, and no enrichment. I can’t remember exactly what her diet was, but I’m pretty sure it was just some random food from PetCo. She lived in a bunch of different cages over her life, but none of them were above the bare minimum :/ I did a lot more research with my pets after that, and they all had ok lives, especially after I started watching Victoria Raechel, and Emiology
I’d like to think that my petcare is pretty great now.

Before my hamsters, I did NO care in every single of my pets.
They were all an impulsive buy because of sales.

i dident do care before i got a hammy, but before birds, yes. but i did reshearch on parkeets, not parrotlets (like kiwi and avacado) i was young when i first got fish (my first fish was a betta that i got in 2014 when i turned 5ish) but after my last male betta passed i started doing more and more resherch and join the betta fish fourm, fishlore, the pleco forum, and tropical fish forums
