Soo i live in a neighborhood with over 15 stray/feral/outdoor cats. There's this one that comes to our porch each night and meows super loudly. It will just do this until someone comes to the door, and then it'll bolt. But it will come back a few hours later. I hear it about twice a day, it started a month-ish ago. Its got a black back, a white muzzle, chest and underbelly, and orange separating the white from the black (idk why i felt this was important to add.) Does anyone know why it's doing this? thanks.

She might be in pain and trying to get help from a person, or she’s cold and wants shelter but it scared of people *shrug*

I agree with what Whiskers said above! Maybe you could try taming the cat and leave out some food for it. Then once it is tame enough, you could check for any signs of pain/illness and take it to the vet, if possible.

Did you recently move in? Maybe it's not a fetal cat, maybe it's a cat trying to find it's owner. It either thinks your house is where they used to live or it's got the wrong house but either way sounds like a cat trying to be let in and being surprised when it's someone different.

We moved in about 5 1/2 years ago. Last night when i opened the door, it ran across the street to go meow at people across from us.

The coat pattern suggests it's most likely female. Does this happen constantly or during specific seasons? She could just be in heat.
It stopped when we got our dog, I think she could have been in heat, because she was in our backyard about a month and a half ago, and then 3 male cats came into the backyard, chased out by a fourth male cat.
