I would go for rabbits because in my area there are hundreds(not joking) of homeless rabbits. There are tons of homeless cats as well, but cats get adopted much faster than rabbits.

Honestly, I wouldn't be able to choose looking at it care - wise because they are quite different that way.

Personally, in my own preference, I'd just go for which ever my shelter has that are in need more. I would get one after I move out though, because I do believe both would be too big for me to take on at the moment :)

Just thought i'd add that cats should be in pairs as well imo. There's so many benefits and ive noticed my cat pairs being much more happy than singles, especially if their siblings.

Probably me too, though we have almost the same amount of rabbits and cats near where I live-

There are four dedicated rabbits shelters in my state, each one housing anywhere from 100-400 rabbits, then there are a few cat and dog shelters that also intake exotics, each of those shelters usually has 2-8 rabbits. I haven't even tried to count all the ones on Craigslist.

But yeah, there are TONS of homeless rabbits in my state :tired:

I would prefer to have two rabbits because like a little furry thing said above, where I live there is a lot of mistreated and homeless rabbits :(

I would adopt rabbits and give them the life they should have. I've seen a lot of people I know keep their rabbits in a small cage and outdoors instead of letting them free roam indoors. My cousin had like three rabbits in a separate cage and rabbits are supposed to live up to 8 years or more, but hers didn't even last a year </3

Rabbits deserve better! <3

Cats do too, but I think it's easier for cats to get adopted and cared for better.

yes, i agree

but rabbits are a lot more work than a cat.

you should have 2 rabbits, unless there are issues (example my rabbit has agression issues so no bonding).

they need plenty of attention.

care-wise they are very different

It's so hard to choose one, someday I want to have both... I chose rabbits because they would make me eat more veggies lol

I agree. My cats LOVE eachother, however you could get two cats that dislike oneanother.

I personally chose cats, as I don't have the resources for 2 bunnies.

Depends

In an ideal situation where I was living alone, had the space and money for either, I would choose the one who needs me most. If there are lots of rabbits then rabbits, if there are more cats then cats.

Currently where I live we have like no rabbits near us, just a shelter overflowing with cats, so I would go cats. But it all just depends

I prefer cat’s because they don’t poop everywhere and are really clingy and my cat follows me everywhere, if I go in my room she goes in my room, if I sit on the couch she sits on the couch, if I go to the bathroom she tries to go into the bathroom, etc.

I’ve never owned bunnies but I’m not interested in owning them anyway.

I’ve tried to keep my cats together (even siblings) and they all fight and hate each other. One of my cats is very territorial and hates all cats. So, some cats can be kept in pairs, but a lot hate it (specifically the grumpy cats). Cat’s are solitary animals anyway.

hm, guess it just depends on the cat's personality! I do prefer more clingy pets to, and I feel like we made a "bond" sort of thing, but I kind of wish I can foster both animals (not together) but just to feel how the're like

Its not “a lot”, stray cats often group together or have mini groups because it works better, but off there are the few that don’t. Ive had 1 sibling and 2 non sibling groups that have worked great, and honestly better then humen interaction
