So my dad bought my hamster a maze for Christmas... unfortunately, he didn't check the size and it was wayyyyy too small (especially since Bumble is such a big boi) so my mom returned it and I have around $20 to spend on a toy for my ham. I've been looking at different options and liked this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GLW1YS2/?coliid=IP0NPK09OH5ZN&colid=3N16JAT2X48I5&psc=1

Bumble has been acting bored lately, and I thought it is just what he needs as he could climb on it and it could be a sort of 'activity center' as well as it comes with chews. Also, I could fill the tray at the bottom with about a cm of sand so he could have a small sand area to play in as an addition to his sandbath. Does this sound like a good idea? Opinions appreciated!  :veryhappy:

I'm not sure, it looks like it could be cheaper wood that might leak sap. Maybe choose something else??

Good point  but I guess I could always add spagnum moss or somethin' on top of the wood...

besides, it says it's made of 'natural' apple wood, so the sap should be safe, right?

I don't think Apple Wood has sap? If it does, your hamster could eat it and its not good for them. Wood with sap also often has something like nails that can eventually poke out and harm your ham. I didn't look at the product, though cause Amazon is blocked. What brand is it? :) Or possibly link an image to IMGBB?

I don't think it would be the safest just because if your hamster falls and doesn't land on the bedding instead on the base, it could be bad.

I think this is going to be too small for a Syrian to use meaningfully, it's smaller than a 10G tank. And hamsters have TERRIBLE depth perception and aren't generally great climbers. I might get this for a Chinese, but otherwise I don't think it's generally suitable for hamsters.

All wood has sap, that's how trees transport nutrients. Some wood may leach less, and how it is treated can prepared can affect that as well.

I agree with the others! I would also be worried your ham might get their feet stuck in the bridge or in-between the post thingys. I am saving up for this if it interests you though:

It's an underground burrowing thing and it's also a good chew toy!

Hmm..true, but I could add a thick layer of bedding to the base to make it safer! Thx for replying tho  :veryhappy:

Thank you for your advice and help! I'll look for a different toy instead. :)

Wow that looks cool... I already have quite a few tunnels, but I might just have to add that one to my collection! haha
