So about a week ago we adopted a new dog. We gave our cat his own room so he had a space where the dog can’t get, but now he never leaves of the room and when the dog get near he hisses and runs to hides. When we take the dog outside we make sure the cat comes out and we feed him out of his rom so he associates outside of his room with good things but it doesn’t seem to be working.I don’t know how to get the cat more comfortable around the dog. Any advice would be appreciated.

Honestly, I would just say to let them work it out. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat. The dogs bicker and bite and sniff the cat any chance they get, but the cat doesn't seem to bothered about it. My cat did take a few weeks to get used to dogs around. My cat sorta has figured it out and isn't scared of the dogs at all now, she just goes around about as she pleases. However, she has access the the upstairs (by jumping over the gate) and the dogs do not (they can't jump over the gate, it is too tall for them)

Hope this helps!

As long as they aren’t biting each other or causing each other severe injuries I would just try to let them get used to each others sent.

So it has been almost two months since we got our dog and our cat is still not coming out and he is constantly stressed and his fur is looking duller than normal, is there anything I can do to help?

After about another month they were able to tolerate each other and now they are fine with each other and once I saw them sitting on the same couch taking a nap. :D
