My old newt had smooth black skin and an orange/red stomach, my new newt has bumpy dark brown colored skin and an orange/red stomach, she is also larger with slightly different eyes. The pet store I bought her from kept her in a large fish bowl half full with a big piece of wood for basking. I have her in a five gallon aquarium about half full with plastic rocks (stick out of the water for basking) and a tetra filter (came w/tank) and an air pump. What I want to know is how my new firebelly newt varies from my previous one and if her new habitat is appropriete for her (more space? less water? more water?); if anybody knows about keeping newts. I am pretty worried about making sure she is happy.
