I think African Dwarf frogs are another thing you could look into. I'm not really sure about cost, but they seem to fit your standards. Maybe frogs in general would be a good pet for you!

I use to have an African Dwarf frog and I named her Time-Out bc she always stayed in the corners. LOL! I put her in with two guppies and she ate one of them...  :duh:  :crybuckets:

So, I kinda want a salamander. Thank you though!
