So, one day my hammy Bumble decided to climb on top of his hide, chew through the mesh lid of his tank, climb out through the hole and escape onto the table, where he then apparently launched himself off the table which and went exploring.

I found the hole, with pieces of his fur stuck to it, when I went to look for him, as I'd noticed that he wasn't up and about at his normal time. Naturally, I was horrified, and immediately me and my family went searching everywhere. I was so scared bc our house is really big and there are so many places a hammy could hide! It could take hours to find him, and what if..we didn't? I prayed 'Please, please let us find him!" After we'd searched for like a half hour, I noticed movement in some laundry, and there, lo and behold, was Bumble, climbing on a jacket! We were so relieved and after I put him back I placed heavy dictionaries and things on top of his cage as safety measures. The whole ordeal was pretty traumatic...I mean, what if we hadn't found him and he just wandered the house until he eventually died of thirst and starvation?! Those were the thoughts going through my head.

Anyways, just wanted to share w/ you guys!

My mum was trying to tame my rainbow hamster Hidey when we first got her. She had her hand flat on the side of the bin and it was quite dark. My mum didn't realize that Hidey was close and Hidey decided my mum's hand looked tasty so she took a bite; my mum got so shocked she jumped back and Hidey still had her teeth inside my mum's finger so she flew up because of the force. Luckily she fell on my bed and was okay, but my mum never touched a hamster again. I think after Hidey calmed down she actually liked the whole experience lol, but obviously I've been much more careful since.

I woke up Sunny a few times months ago and at the time she was sleeping under her sand bath. One day I went to wake her up and lifted up the sand bath, then dropped literally half the sand on her and she scrambled under a platform. She was okay, but she didn't want to sleep under the sand bath anymore and moved somewhere else. I now of course know not to wake up her up but I still feel really bad for dropping the sand on her

:(
