Hi! I love sharing facts so here we goo...

Syrian hamsters are the most common bought hamsters.

The first hamsters came from Syria, though they live all over the world. Some places they lived in are Greece, Belgium, and northern China.

Hamsters can live up to 4 years! (rarely)

It's illegal to own hamsters in Hawaii, because they might escape and start creating colonies that damage crops and native plants.

Red fox eat hamsters.

There are 25 species of hamsters.

Hamsters can pouch up to half their body weight in their cheek pouches (that one really blows me away).

Hamsters eat their soft poops.

More info on soft poo

It contains nutrients, and are only pooed at night. A lot of other animals eat soft poos to, because thats the only way they can get the vitamins they need.

Hamsters are so flexible they can do a full turn in the spot, i.e. put them in a tube and they can turn even tho they don't have enough space to maneuver.

Could you please keep it all in one post and edit them in? Then, your not really spamming (it feels like that a little), or double/triple/quadriple posting. Thank you :)

Oops, yeah sorry about that. I kind of got carried away.

But anyway... More Hamster facts:

Some hamsters in the wild will fill their cheek pouches with air and then swim, because it allows them to float.

Hamsters teeth are actually meant to be yellow because it show that their saliva production is good, because they need to be able to clean them selves properly.

Hamsters in the wild will have a burrow with multiple chambers meant for eating, sleeping, storing food, and even going poop poop.

Chocolate contains a chemical called theobromine which can be toxic to hamsters. (It is the same for dogs too.)

The real name for a hamster's cheek pouches is displostomes.

Hamsters are born blind, and as adults are still very near sighted

Hamsters navigate based on scent, and they use their scent glands to mark things, so they can navigate their area easier

The hamster is classified as a rodent, and its scientific name is Cricetinae

Although the first hamsters came from Syria, hamsters live all over the world in places like Greece, Belgium, and even Northern China

Okay I'm done for now  :star:

Just to clarify, theobromine is not toxic to hamsters and other rodents. It’s a completely understandable mix-up, though—sometimes it can seem really logical to compare two animals that are seemingly pretty similar. :)

Hamsters can run up to 5.5 miles per night! Hamsters also are burrowers and they create chambers when they burrow. There's the sleeping chamber, hording/eating chamber and a bathroom chamber. Hamsters also sleep all day and are awake at night because they are prey animals. :pawprint:  :pawprint:  :hamster4:  :hamster5:  Make sure you cage is at least 450 sq inches. :heartbeat:

Hamsters love alcohol. In a study hamsters chose alcohol over water every time. Most likely because fruits they collect in the wild gets fermented after a while. Hamster handle alcohol better than humans, because compared to our and they’re size they’re liver is 6!! Times bigger. (Will NEVER give my hamster alcohol, and please don’t) in Norwegian hamstre is to hoard, hamstrer is hoarding🐹
