My question is, is it actually bad to keep a single one? If you put them together they fight over shells. The reason they travel together is supposedly for access to more shells. I don’t think they have the brain capacity to feel lonely. So, why not get a single one and just give them lots of shells to prevent all the fighting?

They need friends. Not optional, if your doing everything correct they won’t hurt each other.

Not trying to be negative. We all make mistakes. I have a friend who looked up "Do ginuea pigs need friends?". They are sight impaired, and had trouble reading it. They could read a few words, and almost got a lone pig. Would you blame them? No. I stopped them, and now they have a dog who lives with them and there parents.

We all skim articles sometimes. We all sometimes impulse buy. No pressure.

Please don’t say that. Some articles don’t cover that. Or maybe he got one all of a sudden and didn’t have time to prepare. you may not know the whole story. Anyways, I do agree they may have small brains but they can feel lonely, just try not to phrase it like that. :)

I read what people said, so no need for condescension, thank you. You’ll be doing more harm than good if you choose to talk to people that way.

Is there some reason why I can’t even ask a question?

Not saying that, i have resurched hermets a little bit. It seems ridiculous to me that you knowingly got one instead of multiple when you KNEW they needed friends. You made excuses and your hermet may had have to suffer bc of that

Thanks to you and everyone else who wasn’t rude. I asked the question because I WANT to know. It’s part of my research.

This is their research. There's no reason, AT ALL, to make other people feel bad. Just give them good advice, KINDLY, and then let them choose to take the wisdom or not. You don't need to attack people.

If I knew then why would I ask? Thanks, but I really don’t need your help. It’s ridiculous that you’re nasty to people who are trying to do the right thing.

It doesn't matter their situation. We help them. Having a bad day gives no excuse for bad behavior. I know that you meant good, but you've hurt me and HoustonHamster with your posts. That's not giving advice. I have bad days too. Does that mean I get mad at strangers on a forum? No. I get mad at strangers on a forum, when somebody puts me down when I'm just asking a question.
