I got my hybrid hamster Breeze from an accidental litter.
I picked her, as she was the biggest, and actually hissed from being woken up haha.

I got my Campbell's Russian hybrid dwarf from a guy on Craigslist who was looking to rehome some baby hamsters.
I chose James because he was the only hamster who went on top of a peanut hide and stood up, looking at me.
Right away, I knew he was the hamster I wanted <33

I got my previous female robo, wings, (yes i named her after a bts album i was obssessed with them in 2016, gimme a break!) from the local SPCA when she was about 3 months old, in 2016.
A family that had a young boy, around 8, had her for about 3 weeks for his birthday before he got 'bored' with her so they brought her to the shelter. She was living in a critterjail until I got her. :(
She eventually died of old age in 2019.

I got my ww hybrid jellie from an accidental litter. my mom told me to pick the most active one, but it was during the day. i knew nothing about hamster care T-T and got her a crittertrail, but the people lifted the hide to show the sleeping hammys and jellie ran out and went into a diff hide. so i got her... T-T i still feel guilty about keeping her in a crittertrail and all of my horrible care ;-;

My first hamster (Lemon Drop, a syrian) came from a pet store, and my whole family was there, telling me to pick the 'dancing hamster' who was actually wall jumping. The other hamster was a cream long-haired banded, and he was curled up in a corner, only trying to sleep. Of course I chose the cream! I also got a tiny cage with mesh platforms and ramps, a single, tiny hideout, a terrible chew toy, gave him scarcely any bedding, and an absolutely miniature wheel. Oof.
My second and current hamster, (Nibbles, a syrian) also came from a pet store. I chose him because there was a cream banded again, but I thought he'd remind me too much of Lemon, and he had slightly red eyes, which back then I thought meant he was sick. There was also another 'dancing hamster'. I chose Nibbles, the sable banded shy one, because I liked his personality and colouring. I gave Nibbles the same cage and platforms, and the same hide, still scarcely any bedding, a bigger, (normal sized) wheel that took up over half of the cage, and better chew toys. Then, later, I found a couple of YouTube channels that helped my hamster care, and me and my dad made a nice bin cage for Nibbles.
