If its illeagal, report it somewhere. I once saw a 1 inch wheel  :yell: :yell:

It's a large chain pet shop, so I'm sure they get checked regularly. Anyway, it's not, at the time I thought. But it's certainly a very rare animal, I'm sure it would have cost me 500$ and chinchillas need a mate, so that's 1000$ just the pet, probably with awful genetics.

Worst thing I have seen was online. Inside the pet mills that the stores use, they had put all the ill or hurt hamsters, rats , birds etc.  in a bag and hit them against a table until they were all dead. :(

I know this is late, but I got chills reading this. That is horrible.

I watched a PETA documentary about that, I agree, it's terrible! There were a bunch more cruel things that the pet mills did.. : :crybuckets:

I'm not sure what the exact one, but there are a lot of them on Youtube. I don't want to share any since the HH Forum Rules and Guidelines say that we can't share any graphic content of animal abuse, sorry!

Ok, not to be opinionated here, but I wouldn't believe PETA. From all the info I've learned, they Euthanize animals and Stage some of the scenes in those videos. Now, I don't know if this is true or not, but I try not to spread it :)

EDIT-not sure if this will work, but lilhams~uwu, on 31 Aug 2020 - 6:15 PM, said:

Once at a pet store I saw a male Syrian in a communal cage of females and many of them were what I suspected to be pregnant.

I have heard that as well, I know they have staged certain videos but I’m not sure witch ones. Hopefully what ever lil hams saw was so staged.

The worst thing I saw at a pet store happened at petsmart. I saw two syrians in a small cage fighting over a wheel. They kept going on the wheel together and fighting.

Worst thing I saw was a Syrian desperately trying to get out of his cage, I wanted to get him and give him a big cage but my mom thought he was ugly (I don’t know how, he looked identical to VanillaHamHam!) 2 weeks later, I saw him in the same spot, same cage, still trying to get out, and no one did anything. he is still there to this day....

This is not really about pet stores, but still something to do with a petstore.

Yesterday, I was looking on craigslist at the hamsters. I am not looking for a ham, I just like looking at the hams for adoption.

I saw a new ad, with a Syrian for rehoming.

I absolutely fell in love! He was a male, greyish spotty white Syrian.

in a -sigh- crittertrail. But the worst part, was the supplies they were selling with him.

A super small hamster ball, wild harvest food, and Pine bedding. His cage had no toys

or enrichment at all. Not even a hide. He looked really sick, with flopped, rough ears and super squinty eyes.

I adore him. He is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!

He looked so sad. I want to get him out of there so bad.

He also looked really sick, probably from the bad living conditions.

Sadly, I cant adopt him. I just am hoping that he gets a good home.

It may not be the seller's fault, the may just have made the mistake to not research or impulse bought.

But, most likely, a pet store told them this was okay.

I hope that hammy gets a better life.

Edit: I just checked craigslist, and his ad is gone. I hope he got a good home

I once saw some hams “doing the deed” at a pet store.
